Belgian football player Adnan Januzaj competes for both the Belgian national team and Spanish club Sevilla as a winger. He was born and raised in Brussels, where he started his career with Anderlecht before turning 16 and joining Manchester United in 2011.

 Early Life, Family, Education

Professional Football player, Adnan Januzaj was born to his parents Abedin Januzaj and Ganimete Sadikaj on 5 February 1995. He grew up in Brussels, Belgium.

Early lessons in life and football were passed down to the Belgian international by his father, Abedin Januzaj.

He had the biggest impact on Adnan’s decision to play football. The Sociedad winger joined his local youth team as a result as a child.

He was able to display his undeveloped talent. Anderlecht, a dominant club in Belgium, quickly moved in to capture the attacker who was born in Brussels.

His father, Abedin Januzaj, taught the Belgian international early lessons in both life and football.

The main factor influencing Adnan’s choice to play football was him. As a result, the Sociedad winger joined his neighborhood youth team when he was younger.

He was able to showcase his raw talent. The attacker, who was born in Brussels, was quickly taken by Anderlecht, a powerful club in Belgium.

Professional Career & Stats

With English powerhouse Manchester United, Adnan started his professional career. Following his standout performances for the reserve team, Sir Alex Ferguson promoted the young Belgian to the first team.

Janujaz did not, however, make his Manchester City debut until the season finale against West Brom.

Since this was also Sir Alex’s final outing for Manchester United in the dugout, it was a special day for the team and the player.

Adnan was named the 2013 Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year for his impressive efforts for the reserve team throughout the season.

He finally made his eagerly anticipated competitive debut against Wigan Athletic in the Community Shield after a lengthy wait.

As leading European clubs recognized his limitless potential, the hype surrounding the Belgian international grew.

So, on October 19, 2019, the Red Devils extended him a new five-year contract in an effort to fend off interest from other teams.

Due to his admirable performances, Januzaj was also nominated for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

When Manchester United manager David Moyes made the decision to leave the gifted Belgian out of the team for the Champions League, eyebrows began to rise.

In contrast, he exceeded expectations in his first season with the team. However, it had a price because the player developed a reputation for diving.

Adnan has somewhat rediscovered his early form while playing for the Spanish team. He, for example, established himself as a potential candidate for November’s La Liga Player of the Month award.

International Career

Footballers can all choose the club they want to play for, but only a select few are allowed to choose the nation they want to represent.

Adnan’s situation was similar in that he had the option to play for teams other than his native Belgium, including Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Turkey, and Croatia.

In addition to the preceding nations, Roy Hodgson, the manager of England at the time, wanted the gifted winger to play for England.

Adnan did not adhere to the Home Nations Agreement’s rules, so it was not possible.

In the end, Januzaj decided to represent Belgium, the nation where he was born. The Sociedad winger, however, had no intention of representing Belgium.

Adnan had turned down the opportunity to compete for the Belgian U-18, U-19, and senior teams back in 2013. He did so because he wanted to represent Albania, the nation of his ancestors.

Adnan played for Belgium, making his debut on June 7, 2014, in a 1-0 victory over Tunisia. However, that was not possible.

Prior to spending the next three long years out of the national team, he made another six appearances for Belgium.

The national team finally called up Januzaj in November 2017 to include him in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The Sociedad attacker subsequently earned a spot in the 23-man World Cup roster.

His goal against England for Belgium to win the World Cup was his most notable World Cup accomplishment. Of note, it was the game’s lone goal against England.

In his 12 games for the national team, the Belgian international has one goal.

Salary & Net Worth

The Belgian international currently makes a respectable $37,000 per week or $1.8 million annually.

Nevertheless, the highly talented winger was earning significantly more when he played for Manchester United. Januzaj was making a pitiful £1,000 per week while playing for the Machester reserve team.

Adnan’s pay, however, was raised to £30,000 per week as a result of his stellar performance and the interest of other elite European clubs.

Januzaj was making £40,000 per week during his final season with the Manchester-based club, though.

Although receiving that much money each week would seem insane to the average person, it is actually quite modest when compared to the salaries of other top footballers of his caliber.

Adnan currently has a net worth of about $8 million, with a sizeable portion of that coming from his salary.

Personal life and Girlfriend

In his personal life, Adnan has been linked with Tulisa Contostavlos, a musician and singer. She appeared on the popular television show The X Factor.

Not only did the Belgian international take his date to a shady restaurant, but he also spent only £18 on a spicy chicken meal.
