Al-Farouq Aminu, an NBA power forward for the Boston Celtics and a Nigerian American, is a professional basketball player. King’s descendant
Both Al-Farouq Aminu’s mother and father, Anjirlic and Aboubakar Aminu are reputed to be Nigerian rulers’ offspring.
Al-Farouq Ajiede Aminu, which translates to “The Chief has arrived,” is how he got his name, and it derives from that.
Along with his father and mother, he also has an older brother by the name of Alade Aminu. For the Nigerian Basketball Team, Alade plays basketball.

The brothers competed as a team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Alde previously represented Nigeria at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Aminu and his brother both had their upbringing in Atlanta, Georgia, where they both excelled as forwards. He has an older sibling who has given him guidance for the future.
He attended Wake Forest University after graduating from Spalding’s Norcross High School.

Freshman Year
Between his first and second years, Aminu switched from Wesleyan School to Norcross High.
He was one of the nation’s best prospects for colleges in 2008, according to rankings.
At the same time, he was rated as the top 7 and full 13 in the USA by the college and high school football networks Rivals.com and Scout.com.

During his junior year, Aminu and his partner guided Norcross to a 30-3 record and the number 12 national seed.
He led his group to back-to-back Georgia 5A state championships in 2007 and 2008. In his junior year, he had a 13.7-point and 9.5 rebound average per game.
Last year
His final year saw an average of 23.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. In 2008, Norcross was rated sixth with a 29-2 record.
In 2008, Aminu was a member of the McDonald’s All-American Team. He took part in the Jordan Brand Classic as well, recording 12 points and 13 rebounds there.
Career in College
At Wake Forest College in the 2008–09 season, he was a unanimous choice for the ACC All-Freshman Team.
In July and November of 2007, he selected Wake Forest over Georgia Tech with a signed Letter of Intent.

With 8.3 rebounds per game, he led all first-year students that year and allowed his team to be placed in the top six in the ACC.
He had to have had his high of 10 double-doubles that year, including five more in conference play. In terms of rookies, he ranked second with 13.0 points per game.
Professional Career
Since 2022, Aminu has competed in matches with seven various teams. He has played in the NBA for 11 seasons and is a veteran.
Clippers of Los Angeles (2010-11)
His career completely changed when the Clippers selected him as the eighth overall choice in the 2010 NBA draft.
Even though he was only with them for one season, he had a standout performance in the eighth game of the 2010 season against the New Orleans Hornets, scoring 20.0 points and pulling down 8.0 rebounds.
He didn’t break his record until March 2016 though.
Hornets/Pelicans of New Orleans (2011-14)
The hornets had witnessed Aminu’s extraordinary skills in person in court in 2010, and they were now observing them. As a result, they made an effort to include him in their group.
Aminu engaged in grueling play with them for three years.
Aminu joined the Hornets after 2011. His 20.0 rebounds for the 2012–13 season were a career-high.
Atlanta Hawks (2014-15)
In a 111-100 victory over the Houston Rockets, he had a fantastic game for Dallas, recording his second-best performance with 17.0 points and 12 rebounds. There, Aminu stayed for a season.
Los Angeles Lakers (2015-19)
Farouq played in his first game for the team in the Blazers’ season opener at NBA New Orleans in October 2015.
He was successful in beating his long-standing record twice in a row a year later.

Farouq participated in one of them while representing the Boston Celtics. He led the Blazers to a 116-109 victory with 28.0 points and a career-high six three-pointers made.
Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers tied that team series at 2-2 after he shattered his record twice there while also setting a career-high with 30.0 points and 10 rebounds.
Injury (2016-17 season)
He must miss roughly 30 consecutive games over the remaining weeks of the 2016–17 campaign.
Al-Farouq Aminu had a calf injury in November 2016. He had to skip mid-December once more owing to a back problem.
He achieved a season high in his season-opening 26.0-point outburst against the Boston Celtics in February 2017.
Aminu missed several games in the latter half of 2017 due to an injury to his right ankle.
2019–2021 Orlando Magic TT
After joining the Orlando Magic, his frequent injuries stopped him from participating, and he was subsequently deemed to be out indefinitely.
Aminu underwent surgery to fix a torn meniscus in his right knee later in the year. It caused him to be unable to participate in multiple forthcoming matches while in Orlando.
Illinois Bulls (2021)
Aminu was dealt from the Orlando Magic to the Chicago Bulls in March.
Before the season even started, he was later traded from the team to the San Antonio Spurs for one off-season game; the Spurs later renounced him.
Atlanta Hawks (2021-present)
Aminu joined the Boston Celtics in December after signing a 10-day contract, however, he was unable to participate in a single game.
Worldwide Career
Aminu plays for both the NBA and the Nigerian Men’s National Basketball Team.
Aminu participated in the 2015 FIBA Africa Championship (Afro Basket) in Tunisia and defeated Angola with a score of 74-65.

Due to his tremendous playmaking, Aminu was chosen as one of the 2-15 Afrobasket All-Star Five.

He is wed to Virginia Tech University alumna Helena Tekeste Aminu, who is from Ethiopia. From 2010 to 2014, they were together for four years before getting married.
Emanah Aminu is their stunning daughter. Currently six years old, she was born in 2015.
The Aminu Good Work Foundation, which Helena co-founded and is dedicated to empowering poor children and supporting healthy lifestyles, focuses on these issues.
