The National Basketball League is home to professional basketball player Al Horford. He is a center and power forward for the Boston Celtics right now.
He was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft. After that, in 2016, the Hawks traded him to the Celtics, where he stayed through the 2019 NBA season.
Al Horford | Family and Education
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, is where Al Horford was born. The oldest of a total of five children, he is the son of Tito Horford and Arelis Reynoso.
The Milwaukee Bucks selected Tito, a former NBA player, as the 39th overall choice in the second round of the 1988 NBA Draft.
It is safe to assume that the father had some career-related influence on his oldest son.
He was also the league’s first player of Dominican descent. Tito did the same for the Bucks from 1988 to 1990, playing center.
Following that, he briefly played for the Washington Bullets, now known as the Washington Wizards. The center then continued to play in France and Italy.

The former basketball player was competing in both the Dominican semi-pro leagues and the Dominican national team at the same time.
He played basketball for the University of Miami in college before entering the professional ranks.
With the Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team, he had a stellar career. Not to note that Marian Christian High School hired him after recruiting him there.
Al used to accompany his father to basketball games and practices as a young child, which led to his developing a strong passion for the sport.
Along with his father’s discipline and respect for the game, Tito also adopted his skills as a basketball player.
Mother of Al Horford
In addition, the NBA player’s mother has been a tremendously encouraging influence in his life since she started working as a sports journalist in 1988.
When her son expressed a desire to enroll in a basketball academy at age six, she took her son’s advice.
Since the academy only accepted children aged seven and older, Arelis even persuaded them to make an exception for Al.
She never lost faith in his dream and did everything in her power to help him realize it.

When her kid entered middle school, Reynoso began searching for the top basketball programs for her one child.
She was aware that Al needed to finish high school in the US to further his education and talents.
So they decided that Al would immigrate to the US after completing middle school after having a pleasant conversation with her ex-husband and his wife.
Even though Reynoso wished she could be there for her child, she understood that her son’s basketball career would benefit greatly from coming to the US.
Siblings
Not only Al, but all of Tito’s children caught the basketball bug. Jon Horford and Josh Horford played basketball professionally, but all of his children played basketball in school.
Between 2010 and 2014, Jon Horford competed for the University of Michigan, then between 2014 and 2015, he represented the University of Florida.
He entered the 2015 NBA Draft after receiving his degree.
He was not selected, though, and soon after began playing for the professional basketball team Indios de San Francisco de Macor’s, based in the Dominican Republic.
Jon has also participated in NBA G League games for the Cleveland Charge and Grand Rapids Gold. Josh and Christian Horford, the two youngest Horford’s, also practice basketball nonstop.

The professional basketball careers of Tito’s daughters, on the other hand, have come to an end as they choose to pursue other pursuits.
Maria is a working professional photographer, while Anna works in financial management.
They still enjoy basketball just as much as their brothers do.
The NBA and basketball had a big impact on their lives from an early age, and they consider it to be “ingrained” in their “lives in many ways.”
