Al Roker was absent this year from Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2022 in New York City on Thursday!
It is said that for the first time in 27 years, Al Roker missed Macy’s thanksgiving parade this year. What was the reason behind it? Dylan Dreyer, the meteorologist filled in the position of Roker as a presenter in the show “Today” on Thursday.
Roker and his ongoing bad health condition is the major reason behind his not attending the show as a presenter.
As always, like the tradition, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb hosted the show near the post where Macy’s flagship store was located. The incident happened in New York’s Herald Square, while Dreyer continued with the interviews on the street.

Also at a point, the news presenter got a call from president Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden who was also looking at the parade from the White House.
Many at the interview were also concerned about Roker and his health condition. They asked Dreyer about how Roker was doing. And in front of millions of parade watchers, he told that he was doing “Great”.
Many of the fans were really upset about the fact that he was not present on the show. Such extreme fans of Roker tweeted saying that they are not going to watch the parade without him present on the show. Some said to pause thanksgiving until Roker gets better.
“It is not the Macy’s thanksgiving parade without Al Roker. Thanksgiving is canceled,” one fan tweeted.
Another chimed in, “can we push thanksgiving back until Roker feels better.”
Many of the Roker fans were not feeling like watching the show without his presence. They were used to Roker as he presented the show for about 27 years of his life and suddenly when he was not there fans couldn’t accept.

Like the show must go on!! Despite his absence, the show opened with the star Lea Michele with her rendition of “Don’t Rain On My Parade.” Moreover, the Macy’s celebration this year features 12 marching bands, 28 floats, and 700 clowns. And performances from the stars like Paula Abdul, Sean Paul, The Roots, Jimmy Fallon, Jordan Sparks, Big Time Rush, and Gloria Estefan.
Mariah Carey is going to give a performance of her classic Christmas hit song on center stage. She will perform on “All I Want For Christmas Is You,”.

At the start of the month, unfortunately, Roker had been hospitalized for having blood clots in his legs. In an Instagram post, he detailed the condition. Also, he thanked everyone for wishing him well in this condition and praying for him for his good health.
“So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been, I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs,” he continued. “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery.”
Recalling two years back, the television star co-hosted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in ill condition as well. He went through prostate cancer surgery just two weeks before the parade. Such a dedicated presenter he was!!
“I really feel good. I was very fortunate,” he shared while appearing on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” . “We caught it early. It was an aggressive form of prostate cancer, but we caught it very early.”
Well, we hope, Roker, to be in good health condition as soon as possible and to be back on the parade next year!
