Alec Baldwin accused the armorers and assistant director of the movie, Rust of giving him a loaded gun on the set. The gun killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director, Joel Souza the previous year.
Alec Baldwin says he was unknown of the guns on the set. According to him, the gun was loaded before the shooting. So it killed the cinematographer and director of the movie, Rust.
Similarly, this was the incident that happened last year, and it took Halyna Hutchins‘ life too. Not only this but the movie’s director, Joel Souza was also wounded as he have to bear physical and mental pain.
On Friday, November 11, Baldwin stated that he is not responsible for the incident because he was unknown of the guns. He accused other crew members of their negligence which caused this damage.
Alec says the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed was in charge of handling guns and ammunition on set. So, it is her responsibility of her to make sure the gun was not loaded.
Likewise, he also blames the assistant director, Dave Halls who gave the gun to Alec and also called it safe to use. So he must take responsibility for his negligence. Furthermore, Alec Baldwin also sued Sarah Zachry who was in charge of props, and Seth Kenney for supplying him with guns and ammunition.
Alec’s lawyer, Luke Nikas says that the above-mentioned members didn’t fulfill their professional duty. Rather than taking responsibility, they made allegations against Baldwin which is wrong. Furthermore, Luke stated,
“This tragedy happened because live bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gun.”

Meanwhile, Baldwin claims that he didn’t even pull the trigger. And while the investigation, the gun needs to get triggered first before shooting. So, Alec was very clear in his mind that he didn’t pull the trigger. In addition to that, the gun was a Colt.45 revolver and according to Alec’s lawyer,
“More than anyone else on that set, Baldwin has been wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy. By these Cross-Claims, Baldwin seeks to clear his name and hold Cross-Defendants accountable for their misconduct.”

The whole incident occurred last year in 2021 in October while filming the low-budget western film, Rust. The shoot was probably in New Mexico outside Santa Fe. Just because the crew members told Alec that the gun is safe he fired it.

Likewise, The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t made any decision regarding this case. The sources also claimed that they fired Baldwin from his job because of the shooting case. Not only this, but he has also suffered physically, mentally, and emotionally from the grief. Baldwin’s lawsuit says,
“There can be no doubt that others have suffered from Cross-Defendants’ negligence far more than Baldwin has”
Moreover, it also added,
“Hutchins lost her life, and her young child lost his mother. Producer Joel Souza was shot in the shoulder and has suffered physical and emotional pain. Though by no means comparable, Baldwin must live with the immense grief.”

It continued,
“And the resulting emotional, physical, and financial toll, caused by Cross-Defendants’ negligent conduct, and supervision put a loaded weapon in his hand. It also led him, Hutchins, and everyone else on set to believe that his directed use of the weapon was safe.”
The family of Halyna Hutchins and the Rust production settled in an agreement. And, they will continue filming again in the year 2023.
