Early life, Childhood, and Education

He was born on 17th January 1996 in Seattle, the USA to his mother, Marcie Trier, and his father, whose name is still unknown.

He holds American nationality and belongs to a mixed (African-American) ethnic background and his star sign is Capricorn. Although his mother was a gymnast and ballet dancer during her teens.

Allonzo Trier grew up his childhood in Seattle, the USA. Additionally, he has two siblings. At an early age, he started playing basketball.  Meanwhile, when he was in sixth grade, he was diagnosed with dyslexia.

Early Career

During his early career, he averaged 25.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.1 steals per game to lead Montrose to a 20–5 record and a National Christian Schools Athletic Association Division I title.

He has been listed as the 2014 Gatorade State Player of the Year. Trier transferred to Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada as a senior. Although, he averaged 26.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game at Findlay.

He was listed in the 2015 USA Today All-USA second team. Trier scored 28 points and was named co-MVP in the Jordan Brand Classic.

Freshman and Sophomore Year

During his freshman year, Trier scored a season-high 27 points on 8-of-11 shooting against Fresno State on 10th December 2015. Although, he averaged 14.8 points per game in his freshman season but missed seven games due to a hand injury.  Later on, Trier became the first Storm player to total more than 1000 in freshman year.

During his sophomore in 2016–17, he received second-team all-conference honors in the Pac-12. He was listed as the most outstanding player in the Pac-12 Tournament.

Positive Drug Test

Meanwhile, Trier was suspended indefinitely for testing positive for PEDs. As he was involved in a car crash and was given a drug. Trier was allowed to return after the NCAA went over the medical documents.

Trier would make his return for the UCLA game after 19 game absence which was announced on 20th January 2017.

Junior season

He was ruled ineligible by the NCAA after testing positive for a banned substance on 22nd February 2018.

After that, his team Arizona lost in the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. During that game, he scored 18 points to help Arizona win by 75-67. Trier won Pac 12 Tournament in 2018.

Professional career

Trier signed with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) on 3rd July 2018.

He made his NBA debut on 17th October 2018  when Trier recorded 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, four rebounds, and two blocks in a 126–107 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Trier scored a career-high 25 points in a 114–109 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on 23rd November 2018.

Trier signed a standard NBA contract with the Knicks on 13th December 2018. He then became the first two-way player that signs a guaranteed NBA contract only within the first two months of the season.

Trier recorded his second career double, started by scoring a new career-high 31 points, then when on with shooting 12-for-18 from the field. Moreover, he grabbed 10 rebounds in a 114–110 loss to the Houston Rockets. He signed up with the Knicks on 14th July 2019.

Trier went from a two-way G-League player to the 15-man NBA roster with a new contract that pays him $3.5 million this season after being undrafted last season.

Iowa Wolves 

He was selected by the Iowa Wolves with the fourth overall pick in the January 2021 NBA G League draft. Later on, he was included in the team’s roster.

National team career

He played for his country in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship in 2014, winning a gold medal for the United States. Although, he scored 9 points in the championship game.

Later on, Trier participated in the FIBA U19 World Championship in 2015, winning a gold medal for the United States. In that game, he scored averages of 8.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.
