Amy was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2009. She had started her cancer therapy in the middle of 2009.

Amy’s illness was made public in late May 2009, and Phil’s golf career was temporarily stopped.
He chose not to defend his championship the following weekend.
Amy’s condition is being improved by a superb team of physicians, according to Mickelson. “We caught this early,” Phil wrote.
Phil further stated that the pair are awaiting the test results in order to be guided on the best possible path.
However, her struggle with breast cancer prevented her from doing so for a time.
