Andre also advanced to the finals of the Illinois Mr. Basketball competition. He was unable to earn it, though. The award went to Dee Brown.

Andre was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2000 AAU national championship.

He received that accolade after making the shot that ended the game at the final horn. That shot helped his team win the 17-and-under national championship.

Iguodala played AAU basketball alongside Larry Butler and the Illinois Warriors. Additionally, he received a four-star rating from Scout.com.

He was selected as the nation’s No. 26 player and the No. 6 small forward in the 2002 NBA Draft.

University Career

Iguodala had numerous offers from schools, but he decided on Kansas or Arkansas. He also sent Arkansas a national letter of intent to play.

Iguodala first visited the Arkansas campus to get a feel for things. The size of their gymnasium and the number of spectators at practice impress him when he returns.

Coach Nolan Richardson of Arkansas was fired in 2002.

He was named to the 2002–2003 Pac-10 All-Freshman team. Andre distinguished himself as one of the team’s top all-around performers.

He was placed among the top 5 members of his squad in each significant area.

Similarly, In his sophomore year, 2003–2004, he received the team MVP award. Along with that, he was also named to the First Team of the All-Pac-10.

Professional Life and Career

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Iguodala with the ninth overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft.

He was the only team member to start each of the 82 games during the regular season. He took part in each of the five postseason games.

Allen Iverson chooses to pursue Iguodala as a result. The two routinely converted alley-oops or passes into dunks.

Iguodala did a fantastic job of showcasing his talent and versatility. As the only rookie and 76er to record a triple-double this season, he performed admirably.

Later, he was also included on the All-Rookie First Team. Andre started on the rookie team at the All-Star Weekend Rookie Challenge. He garnered votes for NBA Rookie of the Year as well, coming in fourth.

Andre then became the only Sixer to have played in and started each of the 82 games during his sophomore season.

He was awarded MVP status for his efforts at the Rookie Challenge on February 17, 2006.

2008 – 2016

Iguodala signed a six-year, $80 million contract with an extension on August 17, 2008. In addition to $5 million in bonuses, the pact also featured a player option for the sixth year.

Iguodala was selected for the NBA All-Defensive Second Team as a result of his defensive performance in the 2010–2011 seasons.

His coaches and teammates advocated for him to be chosen for the First Team due to his potential.

On July 5, 2013, he agreed to a four-year, $48 million contract with the Golden State Warriors. While playing with the Golden State Warriors in the 2014–2015 seasons, Andre received the Finals MVP title.
