Later in the 2011 campaign, he participated in a summer baseball academic program with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Toles was subtitled a “league all-star.”

Later, Toles relocated to Chipola College, which is located in northern Florida. He was suspended from Chipola’s baseball team in 2012 due to a rule violation, though.

Professional career

The Tampa Bay Rays selected Toles in the third round of the Major League Baseball draft. He batted.281 in his first professional season with the Princeton Rays of the Rookie-level Appalachian League.

Toles was named the league’s Best Athlete and Fastest Baserunner by Baseball America. In 2013, he participated with the Class-A Midwest League’s Bowling Green Hot Rods.

He was initially warned by manager Jared Sandberg, who disapproved of him for not running quickly first. Later, the athlete was kicked out of a game for not pushing.

Toles left the squad a few days later for personal reasons, and he was eventually placed on the inactive list.

In August, Andrew played in six games for the Rookie Gulf Coast League.
