Peat participated in sports while attending Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona. He played football, basketball, and track.

College career

Peat appeared in 13 games as a freshman, taking 20 snaps on average. In 2013 as a sophomore, he began each of the 14 games. He received the Morris Trophy and was an All-American in 2014 as a junior.

Peat joined the 2015 NFL Draft following his junior year.

Professional career

Peat was chosen by the New Orleans Saints with 13th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft on April 30, 2015.

He signed a four-year, $11.39 million contract with the Saints on May 21, 2015. It also came with a signing bonus of $6.54 million and was fully guaranteed.

As a reserve offensive guard, he started the 2015 campaign. In a defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 20, 2015, he made his first career start at left guard.

On January 10, 2018, after receiving a diagnosis of a broken fibula and a high ankle sprain, he was put on injured reserve.
