Although they are club friends, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi will face off as international opponents on Sunday.

In an interview with TUDN earlier this year, Messi described Mbappe as follows: “Kylian is a different player. He’s a beast. He’s very strong one-on-one, he finds space and he’s very quick.

“He can score a lot of goals, he’s a very complete player and he’s been showing that for years. In the next few years, he’ll be among the very best, no doubt about it.” he further added.

In a matter of days rather than years, Mbappe might be able to say that he is among the best.

Only 21 players have won the men’s World Cup several times to this point.

Mbappe, who contributed four goals to France’s successful campaign in Russia in 2018, is two days away from winning his second World Cup.

Moreover, Mbappe has a lot of time on his side and has a good chance of breaking Pele’s record of three World Cup victories in the coming years.

On the other hand, Messi’s final opportunity to win the World Cup comes on Sunday. The 35-year-old has declared that he will not participate in the competition in 2026.

Will Messi’s final dance be a triumphant one? Or will Mbappe guide France to back-to-back championships and so almost likely win his first Ballon d’Or award?

Here is the stats for the match between them:

Argentina Vs France Head To Head

In 2018, France prevailed 4-3, but Argentina had a better head-to-head record in all 12 of their encounters.
