French footballer Benjamin Jacques Marcel Pavard is a right back for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the France national team. He can play as a center-back even though he is typically used as a right-back.

Early Life & Family

Benjamin Jacques Marcel Pavard was born on March 28, 1996, in Maubeuge, a village in Nord in the northern region.

He is also the son of former football player Fredric Pavard. With time, his love of football grew stronger.

First, the French defender found his calling while representing his hometown team, Jeumont. Former French striker Jean-Pierre Papin began playing football at the same club.

Pavard eventually enrolled in Lille’s youth academy to advance toward his professional aspirations. More amazing than Lille’s time is Benjamin’s ability to travel four times, or 100 km round trip, each week.

Speaking of commitment, the French defender’s notoriety is largely due to his parents’ tireless efforts. The coaches also praised him highly for his dedication and desire to play the sport.

Similar to this, Benjamin set out on another journey to the Bundesliga after learning as much as he could at LOSC Lille.

The center-back, who had a professional contract with VfB Stuttgart of Germany’s top division at the time, quickly made waves in the league with his performances.

Age, Height, & Physical Stats

He really does a good job of carrying the Mia San Mia mentality of the club. Moving on, Benjamin is a fairly tall player, standing at 6’1″. (1.86 m).

Therefore, it can be said that Pavard has the ideal height for his position of play. The Frenchman’s pace and agility haven’t been hampered by his tall stature, though.

Despite not being as quick as his teammate Alphonso Davies, Benjamin makes up for it. He is a healthy weight for a defender at 76 kg (168 lbs), neither too lean nor too bulky.

Career

Benjamin enrolled in Lille’s youth academy to hone his abilities and advance in football in order to secure a professional contract.

He would advance through the ranks at the age of nine and make his first-team debut on January 31, 2015.

Having played in 21 league games over the course of two full seasons at LOSC Lille, the Frenchman ultimately left his country to gain experience in another league.

As he was losing favor at Lille, VfB Stuttgart saw his potential and recruited him to their team.

The Bundesliga team provided him with a haven of sorts, where the defender’s potential could only soar.

Even though Stuttgart was playing in the second tier that year, Benjamin was still focused on getting his new team promoted.

Finally, on October 3, 2016, in a 4-0 victory over SpVgg Greuther Furth, the center-back made his first appearance on the scoresheet.

In a similar vein, the Swabians won the Bundesliga 2 championship.

Pavard was consequently promoted by his club for the following campaign, which did not get off to the best start. In August, Stuttgart lost to Hertha Berlin 2-0 in his debut match.

Despite such a lackluster first-tier debut, Benjamin remained confident and planned for the remainder of the year.

He used to play right back, center back, defending mid, and even right wing.

The following season, however, turned out to be a bitter experience for both Pavard and Stuttgart as the team was once again relegated and lost its place in the Bundesliga. Many clubs were considering a transfer in 2017–18.

However, the French defender decided against joining another club because he owed money to the German team.

He made the firm decision to remain at Stuttgart as long as the team could maintain its top-flight standing.

Place Amongst the Record-Champions

The Swabians were aware that they had to release Benjamin so that the money from the cash out could be used to bolster the squad with additional members.

As a result, Pavard committed to the German powerhouse and will start the 2019–20 campaign as a Bayern defender.

Many spectators and analysts questioned the defender’s decision to join the record champions. Similar to this, rumors spread that the new hire would only serve as a backup.

The center-back has established himself as the undisputed right-back in addition to being a consistent starter for the Bundesliga’s record-holders.

“He will be one of the best transfers that we’ve ever made. For me, what a player costs isn’t what matters. It was clear to me that he could be an outstanding signing – particularly because of his great character.”

Indeed, Benjamin makes mistakes and has faults, but what separates him from the majority of the players is his willingness to right any wrongs on the field.

International Career

On November 6, 2017, Pavard managed a spot on the national team roster while playing for VfB Stuttgart. The young Frenchman was more than welcome to join Didier Deschamps’ team, according to the head coach of the French national team.

Benjamin had the chance to showcase his abilities before making his professional debut in exhibition games against Wales and Germany.

The defender was also included in the 23-man roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The right-back started each game, with the exception of the match against Denmark, like fellow Bayern teammate Lucas Hernandez.

The involvement of his French squad was also intriguing because of Deschamps’ complete faith in the young right-back.

Even though France won the World Cup, Pavard’s powerful volley against Argentina in the Round of 16—making history as the second defender to score after Lilian Thuram—would serve as the highlight of the entire campaign.

Net Worth and Salary

First of all, Benjamin has amassed a startling net worth of $2 million. It’s only a matter of time before we see how high his net worth may rise in the upcoming years, as his fame is increasing every day.

Furthermore, although the specifics are currently being kept under wraps, Pavard’s pay increased after his move to Bayern.

Stuttgart, on the other hand, reportedly paid Benji about $23k per week for his services. The Frenchman’s contract was also extended by the German team from December 2017 to 2021.

As a result, Pavard would receive $1.2 million in annual salaries. On the other hand, the Frenchman was purchased for €5 million by the 2006 Bundesliga champions.

Relationship Status

The most notable relationship that Pavard had was with Rachel Legrain-Trapani, Miss France. Rachel is eight years older than Benjamin, which is another factor.

The model’s parents are immigrants from Italy, and she is their daughter.

Similar to Trapani, who was educated at Lycee Henri-Martin in 2006, Trapani was born on August 31, 1988, in Saint-Saulve.

Similar to how Trapani won the Miss France contest in 2006 and deservedly held the title. She was then 18 years old.

Rachel eventually made the decision to enter the film industry as her fame grew and made her debut in the 2011 film Quinte Flush.

After that, she dated a number of well-known athletes, including footballer Aurelien Capoue and Ladji Doucoure, with whom Trapani has a son named Gianni.

The 2007 Miss France found her way to Benjamin Pavard with a painful breakup on June 8, 2013.

In a similar vein, the Bayern right-back occasionally posted on social media about how much he loved his girlfriend. The model would reply by exchanging some charming messages.

Rachel promised followers in one of the posts that she would visit Russia to watch Pavard play.

Unfortunately, though, the couple’s union did not last, and they broke up a few months later.

The Frenchman is currently enjoying his single status and is not dating anyone. His sole attention is on advancing his career at Bayern Munich.
