In West Virginia, Brad Douglas Paisley was born on October 28th, 1972. Douglas Edward Paisley, a worker for the West Virginia Department of Transportation, and Sandra Jean Paisley, a teacher, had a son named Brad Douglas Paisley. His maternal grandfather gave him a guitar when he was eight years old and taught him how to play.

When he was 13 years old, he wrote his debut song, “Born on Christmas Day.” Brad Paisley and the C-Notes was the name of the band he soon created, and they started playing at parties and clubs. The program director of a radio station in West Virginia requested him to appear as a guest on Jamboree USA after hearing him perform.

Early Career

Within a week of graduating, he got a songwriting contract with EMI Music Publishing, penning the songs “Another You” for David Kersh and “Watching my Baby Not Come Back” for David Ball. With 1999 single “Who Needs Pictures,” he made his singing debut. He then had No. 1 hits with “He Didn’t Have to Be” and “We Danced.” He was given the Best New Male Vocalist Award by the Academy of Country Music in 2000, as well as the CMA Horizon Award.

Brad also was nominated for a Grammy in 2001 for Best New Artist. He was later admitted to the Grand Ole Opry, becoming its youngest member, and his performance there earned him a CMA award for Vocal Event of the Year.

It serves as the lead track off of his ninth studio album for Sony Music Entertainment, Moonshine in the Trunk, which was made available on August 26, 2014. In addition to producing the song with Luke Wooten, Paisley co-wrote it with Kelley Lovelace. On September 2, 2014, country radio stations received the album’s second single, “Perfect Storm.”
