Professional Career

Santos was an undrafted free agent who was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014. On August 30, 2014, he was named the team’s kicker after overcoming seasoned pro-Ryan Succop.

Cairo became the first person ever born in Brazil to play in an NFL regular-season game when he kicked his first career field goal in a 26-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

He also became the Chiefs’ top scorer by making the most field goals by a rookie kicker.

Santos set a team record and ranked second all-time for the most field goals ever made in a single game on October 4, 2017, by kicking seven goals, including two over 50 yards.

During the same season, he made five of his six field goal attempts against the Denver Broncos and hit a 53-yard field goal against the Baltimore Ravens.

Cairo Santos | Injury

Santos suffered an injury while kicking a ball in the wet during the 2017 campaign. He was unable to kick for Chicago that season due to the injury, which also prevented him from participating in training camp and the preseason.
