Controversies

Formula One Developmental Driver
When Carmen Jorda was announced as Formula One’s development driver in February 2015, she was heavily criticized.
They started calling her a “marketing gimmick” because she hadn’t won a championship since the Master Junior Formula Series in 2005.
She had worked in GP3 and the Indy Series for many years, but she only finished 28th in the final standings.
As a result, they concluded that she was chosen solely for her appearance or her money.
Michèle Mouton, the FIA’s Women & Motor Sport Commission at the time, said she was the worst choice for the position.
He had also suggested names for the positions, including Simona de Silvestro, Danica Patrick, Susie Wolff, and Beitske Visser.
As a result, in response to Mouton, Jorda stated that she was in that position because of her determination and dreams, much like the Lotus. It was apparently during her interview with Motorsport.com.
Simultaneously, she was castigated by Vice’s writer, James Newbold, who claimed that her signings were based solely on her appearance.
Along with that, he provided her race records from previous years, concluding that she was sending the wrong message to the market.
