Chandler Evan Parsons is a former professional basketball player from the United States who last played for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association. He was a good, competitive forward with a great shot throughout his playing years.

Chandler Parsons was born in Casselberry, Florida, on October 25, 1988, making him 34 years old.

A communications degree from the University of Florida was also awarded to him. Then after, he announced the 2011  NBA Draft.

Chandler Parsons | College Career

Parsons won an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville. He was a member of Billy Donovan’s Florida Gators men’s basketball team from 2007 to 2011.

The Gators could not advance to the NCAA tournament despite Parsons’ 36 games played and 8.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game average as a freshman.

Following that, Parsons saw increased playing time in the 2008–09 season and developed significantly, although he was denied entry to the NCAA Tournament.

Junior Season

As a junior, Parsons had a 12.4 point, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game average.

In overtime in January 2010, Parsons’ 75-foot shot helped the Gators overcome North Carolina State by one point.

The BYU Cougars upset the Gators in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament after convincing them to enter.

Parsons averaged 11.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in roughly 34.1 minutes per game in the 2010–11 season. He helped the Gators to the best regular-season record in the SEC due to his effort.

In January 2011, Parsons hit a three-pointer to seal the victory for the Gators. The SEC player of the year for 2011 was then awarded to him.

Parsons was chosen by Fox Sports for the sixth All-American team.

Chandler Parsons | Professional Career

Cholet Basket

Chandler Parsons was chosen by the Houston Rockets as the 38th overall choice in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Later, during the 2011 NBA lockout, he took part in three games for the French team Cholet Basket.

Houston Rockets

On December 18, 2011, Parsons joined the Houston Rockets of the NBA.

In the Houston Rockets’ final game of the 2011–12 season against the Miami Heat, Parsons scored a season-high 23 points.

Parson joined James Harden‘s club in 2013 when he was moved to the Houston Rockets.

As a result of his accomplishment, Parsons was subsequently named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Similarly to that, Parsons defeated the Miami Heat with a career-high 25 points in November 2012. Later, he set a new career-high with 31 points against the New York Knicks.

Parsons also set team and NBA records for 3-pointers made in a tournament in January 2014, scoring 34 points, a career-high.

Dallas Mavericks

Parsons became a restricted free agent after spending the 201314 season with the Houston Rockets.

Dallas Mavericks later made him a three-year, $46 million contract offer in July 2014, but Houston Rockets chose not to match it.  Parsons signed with the Dallas Mavericks.

Similar to this, Parsons’ 32-point performance against the Detroit Pistons in December 2014 set a season-best.

Parsons suffered from injuries the following season. During his time with the Mavericks, his knee issues and surgery kept him largely out of action.

Consequently, Parsons made his return during the 2015–16 NBA season, and in January he scored a season-high 31 points against the Houston Rockets.

Due to being deemed ineligible once more for the remainder of the season due to injury. He underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Memphis Grizzlies

Parsons and the Memphis Grizzlies reached a four-year, $94 million contract on July 7, 2016.
Then, on November 6, he faced the Portland Trail Blazers in his first game with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Additionally, he was unable to play due to the injury. Because of a serious third knee injury, he was out for most of three consecutive seasons.

In an October 2017 103-89 win over the Houston Rockets, Parsons totaled 24 points on 9 of 11 field goal attempts and 6 of 8 from 3-point range.

Parsons then participated in three games in 2018–19 before being sidelined due to right knee discomfort.

Atlanta Hawks

Solomon Hill and Miles Plumlee were exchanged for Parsons on July 6, 2019, and the Atlanta Hawks received them.

Parsons sustained injury and a concussion after being struck by a drunk motorist shortly after that. The Atlanta Hawks had him in five games before the terrible crash, though.

On January 20, it was announced that Parsons had sustained a traumatic brain injury in addition to other complications that could have permanently harmed him.

After that, on February 5, the Atlanta Hawks released Parsons.

Chandler Parsons| Retirement

In 2020, Chandler Parsons was involved in a catastrophic car accident that prevented him from continuing his basketball career.

In addition, a truck collided with his car, giving him a concussion and whiplash.

After that, Parsons’ traumatic brain injury, ruptured disc, and torn labrum were all determined to be present.

After managing the situation for five days, his counsel stated that Parson’s basketball career might be ended as a result of the injuries.

Parsons made his retirement announcement on January 18, 2022.
