Early Life, Family & Education

Chimezie was born on March 22, 1997, in Los Angeles, California, to his parents, James Metu and Florence.

His childhood was a roller coaster ride from country to country. He grew up primarily in the South Bay city of Lawndale.

He moved to Lagos, Nigeria, with his father, brother, and sister when he was five years old and stayed for six years.

Both James and Florence were born in Nigeria, and his father James was very protective of African culture and wanted his children to know and understand their cultural values.

Furthermore, James had his own plan to run a business there. He worked in the import-export business, and his wife worked as a nurse in a Los Angeles hospital.

Every summer, Chimezie used to visit the United States. While learning about his culture and location, he discovered that adversity and struggle ruled there more than contentment in everyday public life.

High School Career

Metu continued his education at Lawndale High School in Lawndale, California. Metu gained a lot in Nigeria, according to Chimezie’s former high school coach, Chris Brownlee.

Not only that, but Chimezie demonstrated his utmost loyalty to his high school when he had the opportunity to play for an elite basketball academy despite growing to a height of 6’8′′ at the age of sixteen.

However, he chose to remain with the Cardinals and play for them. This decision and action surrounded him with love and compliments.

People did not treat him well at first, but Chimizie dealt with it and grew stronger as a result.

He averaged 8 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks as a senior, propelling Lawndale to basketball prominence in Southern California.

College Career

Several basketball powerhouses, including Harvard, offered him a scholarship. Nonetheless, Chimezie chose to play for USC and graduated in three years with a degree in law, history, and culture.

He averaged 6.4 points per game and 3.6 rebounds.

He also had 54 blocks, the second most by a USC freshman since Taj Gibson.

Metu also played for USC in the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament for 10 minutes, resulting in a loss.

Chimezie started all 36 games as a sophomore, averaging 14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds.

It was admirable how he improved with each season, to the point where Chimezie was named to the All-Pac 12 First Team as a junior in 2017-18 after averaging 7.4 rebounds, 15.7 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game.

Furthermore, his USC coach Andy Enfield predicted that “Chimezie would last long in the NBA and make it big there.” He works hard and has a lot of potential for someone his size.”

Chimezie credits his impressive lateral quickness to his time playing soccer in Nigeria.

During his time at USC, he became intimately acquainted with the Spurs’ game and culture through Trojan’s assistant coach Jason Hart.

Chimezie was surrounded by feuds and controversies. In December 2018, he was fired as Captain and suspended for six months for punching an opponent in the groin.

He was later charged with bribery and corruption in college basketball on February 23, 2018.

He was linked to the FBI investigation, and according to documents obtained by Yahoo Sports, he and his advisor, Johnnie Parker, received $2,000 from ASM Sports (an East Coast agency).

Professional career

On June 21, 2018, being hired as the 49th pick in the 2018 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs was like taking the first step down the road to success.

Chimezie was later added to the San Antonio Spurs 2018 NBA Summer League roster. On September 4, 2018, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs.

He was prepared to attend and listen intently to all advice and methods. Metu would make every effort to take advantage of the situation.

Chimezie’s first three minutes of NBA action came on October 20, 2018, during a 108-121 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, during which he contributed two points, two rebounds, and a block.

Relationship Status

In addition to being a great athlete, he is a young, attractive man with a charming personality.

Does Metu have a girlfriend or engage in any affair? These are a few of the typical questions posed by Metu supporters.

Because of your curiosity, we did a little more research online and came to the conclusion that his name has nothing to do with any of the town’s attractive women.

Chimezie has likely avoided hookups and relationships because he is single.

Even so, it’s worthwhile because he is a rookie in the professional game of basketball and cannot afford to miss any chance to advance.

Net Worth & Salary
