Actor Christopher David Noth is from the United States. He is well-known for his work on television, where you may have seen him as Peter Florrick on The Good Wife, Big on Sex and the City, and NYPD Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order.

Chris Noth | Early Life, Education, and Family

On November 13, 1954, Chris Noth was born in Madison, Wisconsin. His father Charles James Noth worked as an insurance agent and marketing firm executive, while his mother Jeanne L. Parr was a CBS News journalist. In 1966, Chris’s father perished in an automobile collision. His older brothers are two.

Chris is of English, German, and Irish ancestry. Chris and his brother traveled extensively throughout the United Kingdom, Spain, and Czechoslovakia thanks to their mother’s employment.

Prior to receiving his master’s in fine arts from the Yale School of Drama in 1985, he attended “Marlboro College.” Chris was mentored by theater professional Sanford Meisner while attending drama school. During his time at college, he participated in about 25 plays.

Early Career

Chris Noth made his acting debut in the 1981 thriller “Cutter’s Way,” which was based on the book “Cutter and Bone,” in an uncredited role. Then he had a little part in the comedy “Waitress!” After playing supporting roles in movies like “Smithereens,” “Off Beat,” “Baby Boom,” and “Boyz In The Hood,” Chris attained a significant role in an Indonesian production.

In the 1988 Indonesian movie “Peluru dan Wanita,” which is Indonesian for “Bullets and Women,” he portrayed the part of Falco, a former CIA agent. The film’s English name was “Jakarta.”

In 1986, Chris was hired for his first television role as Johnny Mathews in the television film “Killer in the Mirror.” The HBO original movie “Apology,” in which he played Roy Burnette, followed. He appeared as Officer Ron Lipsky in three episodes of the NBC primetime police drama “Hill Street Blues” that same year.

His appearance in the first season of the police drama “Law & Order” in 1990 was the turning point in his television career. He appeared in 111 episodes of the show over the course of the following five years, and his portrayal of Detective Michael Logan helped him become well-known.

He performed the same role in an episode of “Homicide: Life on the Street” in 1995, which led to his dismissal from the program.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent

From 2005 until 2008, Chris played Michael Logan again on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” He also appeared in the television show movie, “Exiled: A Law & Order Movie” (2008). He shared two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations (1995 and 1996) with the cast of “Law & Order,” and he was nominated for “Viewers for Quality Television”Best “‘s Supporting Actor” award for his work on the program.

Chris played Mr. Big, Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) love interest, from 1998 until 2004 on the hit drama-comedy series “Sex and the City.” For his work on the program, he was nominated for the best-supporting actor at both the “Satellite Actors Guild Awards” and the “Golden Globe Awards.” He was nominated for a “People’s Choice Award” alongside the series’ ensemble.

In addition to his work on “Sex and the City,” Chris frequently appeared in movies. He played T in the murder drama “Cold Around the Heart” in 1997, and Martin Ballsac in the independent film “The Acting Class” in 2000. Many of his ‘Law & Order castmates appeared in the latter’s supporting cast, including Jerry Orbach, Benjamin Bratt, and Alec Baldwin.

Other appearances

In the 2000s, Chris made multiple appearances in movies like “The Glass House” (2001), “Cast Away” (2000), “Searching for Paradise” (2002), “Tooth Fairy” (2004, short film), and “The Perfect Man” (2005). By playing the title role in the Off-Broadway production of “Dr. Faustus” by Classic Stage Company, “That Championship Season,” and the Broadway revival of “The Best Man,” he continued to be involved in the performing arts.

On the CBS legal and political drama “The Good Wife,” which premiered in 2009, he was given his second significant television role as Peter Florrick, a former state attorney and the husband of Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies).

Justice League: Crisis on infinite earth

In the 2010 direct-to-video animated superhero movie “Justice League: Crisis on infinite earth,” Chris voiced the supervillain “Lex” Luthor. Chris is also a well-known voice actor. In the 2011 Japanese animated drama “From Up on Poppy Hill,” he also provided voice acting.

He gave some noteworthy performances in the movies “Lovelace” and “Frame of Mind” (2008). (2013). He played Anthony Romano in the biopic of porn actress Linda Lovelace while playing Steve Lynde in the film about the assassination of John F. Kennedy in the first.

Moreover, in the third season of the historical drama “Tyrant,” Chris made his screen debut as General William Cogswell, one of the main characters. He portrayed the title role of FBI Agent Frank Novak in the police procedural crime drama “Gone.”

Chris Noth | Controversies

Three women came forward in December 2021 and claimed that Noth had sexually abused them. He refuted all of the charges. Noth was fired from his talent agency, A3 Artists Agency, following the allegations.

When the charges first surfaced, reports indicated that the controversy also apparently forced the Entertainment Arts Research Inc. liquor company to back out of a $12 million arrangement to purchase Noth’s tequila brand Ambhar Tequila.
