Christian Pulisic is an American professional soccer player who plays as a winger or attacking midfielder for the Premier League team Chelsea and the United States national team. His excellent level of play and ethnicity have earned him the nickname “Captain America” from fans and fellow players.

Early Life, Family & Education

Christian Pulisic was born on September 18, 1998, to his proud parents Mark and Kelley Pulisic in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He is a well-known winger and attacking midfielder for Chelsea. His sister’s name is Devyn Pulisic.

Pulisic grew up with parents that loved soccer. Both of his parents played soccer for George Mason University.

His father, Mark, played indoor soccer professionally with the Harrisburg Heat in the 1990s.

Career and Profession

In February 2015, Christian, just 16 years old, began his professional club career with Dortmund. He joined the U17 team at first, but Dortmund later moved him to the U19 squad.

Christian also made his first-team debut on January 24, 2016, in a friendly game against Union Berlin.

He played the entire 90 minutes, scoring one goal and providing an assist for another. On February 18th, Pulisic made his UEFA Europa League debut while competing against FC Porto.

Similarly to this, on February 21, 2016, when the squad played Bayer Leverkusen, he participated in his first Bundesliga game.

Following his second match in the Bundesliga, the team management stated:

“Christian is just a teenager in his first year of professional football. His first two games as the starting eleven were with Leverkusen and here today in Schalke – which is not the easiest of tasks.

“It presents our huge appreciation…..see him as a full-time player on our team… He looked really good lately, which was proved today. It is completely normal to not have played with such pace and intensity for over 90 minutes.”

Christian became the fourth-youngest player and the youngest non-German to score a goal on April 17 when he scored the first Bundesliga goal of his professional career. He was only 17 years old.

On April 23, he became the youngest player to ever score two goals in the Bundesliga, creating another piece of league history.

Champions League

The youngest player from Dortmund to compete in the UEFA Champions League, Christian made his professional debut in the 2016 International Champions Cup.

Christian also consented to an extension of his contract with Dortmund on January 23, 2017.

According to the terms of the agreement, Christian had to represent the team through the year 2020. With his first UEFA Champions League goal, Pulisic made history by becoming Dortmund’s first goal scorer under twenty.

He also scored his debut goal on August 5, 2017, in the DFL Supercup.

Chelsea

The day after Christmas, on December 31, 2018, Chelsea, a Premier League team, acquired Christian. He was on loan from Dortmund for the duration of the 2018–19 season, though, since the club had extended his contract.

Chelsea also had to pay Dortmund £58 million in transfer fees for the privilege of acquiring Christian from Dortmund.

As a result of this specific deal, Christian became the most expensive American player. He was also the second-most expensive player to sell for Dortmund.

Christian Pulisic | Injury

Christian became the first American player to score in a championship final on August 1st, 2010, when competing against Arsenal in the 2020 FA Cup Final.
