Coco Gauff, an American tennis player competes professionally. At the age of 15, She became WTA’s top-ranked player.

On June 20, 2022, she has a career-high ranking of world No. 12 in singles, which is a really impressive record.

She has won three of her four WTA Tour doubles championships while collaborating with Caty McNally. Likewise, Gauff rose to fame in 2019 after upsetting Venus Williams in the Wimbledon first round.

Her parents, Corey Gauff and Candi Gauff gave birth to Coco. She spent much of her youth in Atlanta, Georgia. The family did return to Delray to concentrate on Corey’s tennis, though.

Track and field athlete Candi Gauff worked as a professor at Florida State University. Additionally, her two younger brothers, Codey and Cameron have been active in sports from a young age.

The little girl spent her early years in Atlanta watching professional tennis players play, particularly the Williams sisters. When she was six years old, she first took up tennis.

Later, she returned to Delray Beach, Florida with her family so that Coco could receive adequate instruction from a reputable trainer. Likewise, Gauff holds American nationality.

How did Coco Gauff start his Career?

Early Training and Career

As previously said, Coco grew up watching tennis and began playing when she was six years old. When she was eight years old, she won the “Little Mo” eight-and-under national championship, which inspired her to pursue tennis as a career.

Serena Williams has always served as her role model and motivation. She mentioned, “I play tennis, and my father decided to get me a racket because of Serena.”

She received instruction with Gerard Logo at the New Generation Tennis Academy in the meantime.

At age 10, Gauff started attending Patrick Mouratoglou’s Mouratoglou Academy, where Serena Williams had previously received extensive instruction.

Junior Titles

As a result of her accomplishments, the young girl started competing on the ITF Circuit at the age of 13 and advanced to the top Grade A and Grade 1 tournaments.

She finished as runner-up in the US Open in 2017, her first junior Grand Slam appearance. In a similar vein, Coco finished as the fifth-youngest single girl’s champion in French Open history.

In 2018, she surpassed McNally to claim the title of top junior in the world after defeating him in the Grade 1 Junior International event in Roehampton.

Coco and her partner McNally defeated Hailey Baptiste and Dalayna Hewitt in a double title match, taking each game in straight sets.

With a victory in the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship, Gauff, the No. 2 junior in the world, brought an end to the year 2018.

Professional Career

Gauff made a record by being the youngest player to compete in Wimbledon’s main draw during the Open Era at the age of 15. Coco improved herself and, after defying Anastasia Potapova and Timea Babos at the US Open, seized the Grand Slam victory in two singles matches.

Fortunately, she won the championship and advanced to the quarterfinal stage. Gauff also made history in the final by being the youngest winner of a single title since 2004 in the year 2019 when Jeena Ostapenko defected.

She also debuted in the WTA singles and doubles rankings’ top 100. After Gauff and McNally defeated Kaitlyn Christian and Alexa Guarachi to win the second WTA doubles championship, the year 2019 concluded.

2020 and Beyond

While competing in the 2020 ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, Coco started her 2020 career as the 67th-ranked player in the world. She then defeated Viktoria Kuzmova in the first round, however, she was unable to advance.

Similar to how the teenager sobbed for the first time after beating Venus Williams in the Australian Open first round. In a similar vein, Coco prevailed in the identical match against Sorana Cirstea in the second round and Naomi Osaka in the third.

She accomplished this feat by defeating the top 5 players at a young age. Gauff defeated World No. 13 Johanna Konta in the first round of the 2020 French Open, although she was unable to advance to the next round.
