A former player and current professional ice hockey coach, Craig Berube is from Canada. He is the team’s head coach for the National Hockey League’s St. Louis Blues.

Throughout his 17-year NHL career, “Chief” Berube played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals, and New York Islanders.

Early Life and Family

Craig Berube, a professional coach, was born on December 17, 1965, in Calahoo, Alberta, to Roger and Ramona Berube.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find much information about his family or siblings.

Similarly, Berube is a Canadian by nationality and white by ethnicity.

Moving on, young Berube had the same ice hockey aspiration as most young Canadians. As a result, he and his father practiced in the neighborhood rinks for the majority of his childhood.

The native of Alberta put in a lot of effort to raise his game whenever he had free time, day or night.

Craig later participated in 33 games during a season in the PCJHL, recording nine goals, 33 points, and 24 assists.

The young prodigy was in demand from WHL teams as a result of his impressive performances.

Professional NHL Career

With the Kamloops Jr., Berube began his professional hockey career in the Western Hockey League (WHL). 1982 saw the Oilers.

Unfortunately, he was only able to play in four games all season. But his second season, in which he played in 70 games and contributed 20 assists in addition to 11 goals and 31 points, was fantastic.

Craig continued to play for a further four years in the WHL and AHL, advancing his abilities all the while.

The native of Alberta was therefore expected to be selected at some point by the time the 1986 NHL Entry Draft came around.

The Philadelphia Flyers ultimately chose the 6’1″ left winger, who went undrafted.

For the next five years, Craig alternated between the Flyers’ development team and the Hershey Bears.

However, Berube counts his involvement in the Flyers’ run to the 1987 Stanley Cup Finals as one of his most treasured memories.

The 54-year-old went on to play for the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs before joining Washington, where he would have a memorable time.

Coaching Career

Craig took a well-earned break from playing professional ice hockey after retiring in 2004.

Berube was elevated to the coaching staff of the Philadelphia Flyers, the Phantoms’ affiliate team, just before the 2006–07 campaign began.

The Alberta native joined the team for a while and took over as head coach the following season.

After a brief break, Craig came back in 2013 to help the Flyers turn around their dismal start.

He was fired one year later, in 2015, because he was unable to maintain his performance.

To be clear, after leaving the Wolves in 2017, Craig became the assistant head coach of the St. Louis Blues, a Wolves affiliate team.

Because Mike had to temporarily fill the position, he was let go the following season.

In 2018, the Blues went on to win the coveted Stanley Cup in a tale that would make any Hollywood screenwriter proud.

Craig accomplished this feat, becoming just the second interim head coach in NHL history to claim the Stanley Cup.

Age, Height & Nationality

Craig was born in 1965, making him 56 years old at the moment.

Similarly, due to his December 17 birthdate, the Alberta native’s zodiac sign is Sagittarius.

The 56-year-old weighs 205 pounds and stands 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 meters) tall (93 kg). In the past, Craig used his body to become one of the best left-wingers.

Net Worth & Salary

The majority of Craig’s $10 million net worth as of 2022 comes from his time spent in the NHL as a player and head coach.

Moving on, Berube is presently the head coach of the St. Louis Blues, where he is allegedly compensated with a $3 million annual salary.

The 54-year-old regularly made over $500,000 annually during his playing career.

Craig also made over $11 million over the course of his 18-year playing career. Not to mention, Craig makes a good living both as a coach and from his playing career.
