Daniel completed his high school studies at Westside High School. He joined Texas A&M University after graduating, where he played college baseball from 2012 to 2014.

Professional Life and Career

In 2014, Daniel debuted as a professional baseball pitcher with the Houston Astros. Out of Texas A&M, the Astros selected him in the fourth round of the draft.

Daniel participated in 2015 with the Quad Cities River Bandits before moving up to the Lancaster JetHawks.

Daniel was dealt to Oakland Athletic at the 2015 trade deadline. He also made his team debut on June 11, 2016, when he took the field against the Cincinnati Reds.

On June 27, 2016, Mengden defeated the San Francisco Giants in his first game in the big league.

Daniel pitched in 7 starts for Oakland in 2017 despite spending the majority of the season in the minors.

He played in 22 games and had a record of 7-6 with a 4.05 ERA during the 2018 campaign.
