David Spade | Early Life, Family, and Education

David Wayne Spade was born to Judith and Warne Spade in Birmingham, Michigan, on the 22^nd of July, 1964. He grew up alongside his two brothers named Andy and Bryan. Spade’s parents split shortly after the family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, when he was four years old.

Thus, the brothers were mostly fostered by their mother, who did so in some degree of poverty. After leaving Saguaro High School, David enrolled at Scottsdale Community College and Arizona State University. After graduating in 1986 with a degree in business, he joined the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Spade would also frequently participate in the university’s Farce Side Comedy Hour, a sketch comedy show. He delivered stand-up routines at Greasy Tony’s Pizza in Tempe, Arizona, throughout his time in college.

Later, his brother Andy Spade and his wife, Kate, who tragically committed suicide in 2018, would go on to co-found the wildly successful handbag firm, Kate Spade.

David Spade became a writer and regular cast member of “Saturday Night Live” in 1990. For his work on SNL, for which he continued working until 1996, he received much praise in the business.

Further, He co-starred in the 1995 comedy “Tommy Boy” with one of the other “Saturday Night Live” cast members, Chris Farley. He also co-starred with Chris Farley in the comedy “Black Sheep” the year after that.

By fighting Malloy, Spade was able to flee; he then locked himself in a bathroom with a shotgun until the police arrived. Due to his guilty plea, Malloy avoided going to jail.

His punishment included a five-year probationary period, drug and mental health rehabilitation, and a condition that he keep at least 100 yards away from Spade. He was also required to perform 480 hours of community service.

Spade provided $100,000 to the Phoenix police department in December 2005. Again, he offered $200,000 to Oklahoma storm victims in May 2013.
