Following the game, Pole spent the following four seasons with the same group. He was alternated between the rotation and the bullpen by the squad.

Injury

In 1975, while playing for the Orioles, he had serious injuries that nearly cost him his great career. Pole was struck by Tony Muser’s line drive straight in the face, and it was a horrible sight to see.

The ball was struck so powerfully that it moved back into the foul territory not far from third base.

For the next season, Pole chose the Montreal Expos. Pole, on the other hand, never seemed to be able to settle down with a team; it seemed as though he changed clubs every other year.

The same issue persisted when he returned to the Cubs in 2003 as a coach.
