Early Life, Family & Education

Donte DiVincenzo was born on January 31, 1997, in Newark, Delaware to his parents Kathie and John F. DiVincenzo.

The young Donte was raised well and went to an all-boys Roman Catholic Independent school in the Newark area. But he started displaying a sporting interest even as a young child.

He participated in a variety of athletic competitions organized by the school and frequently won.

John, his father, also served as a basketball coach at a middle school. He encouraged Donte to pursue a career in sports and assisted him in his early development. As a result, he became very interested in basketball and soccer.

He was a great soccer player as well. Donte, on the other hand, transferred to the Salesianum School during his senior year of high school. He ultimately chose to switch from soccer to basketball in high school.

Donte’s older brother John A. DiVincenzo comes from that family.

High School Career

Throughout high school, DiVincenzo remained committed to developing his basketball skills. He excelled after transferring to Salesianum School and made quick progress.

His junior year of high school saw him average 15.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists each game. Donte averaged 22.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game as a senior.

Under Donte’s direction, his team won two straight state championships, which contributed to his increased notoriety. Before transferring to a college, he was already regarded as one of the top players at his high school.

Additionally, the Delaware Sportswriter and Broadcaster’s Association honored him as the Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2015 for his achievements.
