Early Life & Education
Dustin Johnson was born on June 22, 1984, and grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. Scott Johnson, his father, was the Mid Carolina Club’s head professional golfer and co-owned a pro shop with his wife, Kandee nee Whisnant. Dustin is the eldest of three children born to his parents. He has two younger siblings, Austin and Laurie.
Johnson completed his schooling at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, after completing his secondary school education at Dutch Fork High School.
Johnson pursued his longtime interest in golf while in college. During his time there, he competed in amateur golf events and was regarded as a terrific golfer.
Dustin was also the only player since Tiger Woods to win a major championship in his first seven seasons out of college. Dustin, also, graduated with a degree in Sports Management.
Profession & Career
Johnson began his professional career in 2007, competing in all three levels of the PGA Tour Q-School and earning a PGA Tour card for 2008 by finishing in a tie for 14th place.
He won the Turning Stone Resort Championship in his debut PGA Tour event, as well as the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, in his second.
He competed in the Open Championship in England, where he finished first and had a wonderful outing.
Johnson’s Official World Golf Ranking rose to No. 7 after a spectacular performance at the Barclays, when he won his fifth PGA Tour tournament by two shots over Matt Kuchar.

2012-2015
During the 2012 season, a professional golfer suffered an injury. He was out of commission for the first two months of the 2012 season, until the end of May, due to an injury.
Johnson began his season by winning the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in 2013, his eighth PGA Tour event, and the WGC-HSBC Champions in November.
Dustin revealed in July 2014 that he will be taking the balance of the season off to seek professional help for some personal issues. Johnson was banned from the PGA Tour for six months in 2012 after testing positive for cocaine and marijuana.
In 2015, Johnson returned to the ring and defeated J. B. Holmes. Similarly, his season began with six top-10 finishes, and he went on to win the 2016 U.S. Open, his first major championship.
2016-2018
Dustin won the BMW Championship in September 2016, his third tournament victory. Johnson won the Genesis Open, moving him to the top of the global rankings in 2017.
Johnson also won the WGC-Mexico Championship in 2017 and became the fifth golfer in history to win his first tournament and become world number one.
He won the 2013 WGC-HSBC Champions, 2015 WGC-Cadillac Championship, 2017 WGC-Mexico Championship, 2016 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, and 2017 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play to become the first golfer to win all four WGC championships.
After withdrawing from the 2017 Master Tournament due to a back ailment, he won his 16th tour title, The Northern Trust, the inaugural FedEx event playoff. Due to his victory, Dustin was able to climb to the top of the official money list.
The golfer also won the Sentry Tournament of Champions for the second year in a row, this time by eight shots over Jon Rahm, and the RBC Canadian Open by three strokes over An Byeong-hun and Kim Meen-whee.
2019-2020
Johnson won the inaugural Saudi International by two strokes over China’s Li Haotong in 2019 and became the sixth most successful European Tour player in history for the United States. He also won the WGC-Mexico Championship for the third time and the World Golf Championship for the sixth time.
At the same time, he finished two shots behind Brooks Koepka in the second PGA Championship, becoming the ninth individual to finish second in all four majors.
Dustin Johnson won the Tour Championship and the $15 million FedEx Cup on September 7, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia.
