Dwyane Wade is a popular American former professional basketball player. He is well-known for playing Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association for 16 years before retiring.

Early life, Childhood, and Education

He was born on 17th January 1982 in Illinois, Chicago, the USA to his mother, Jolinda Wade, and his father, Dwyane Wade Sr.

Wade holds American nationality and belongs to a mixed (African-American) ethnic background and his star sign is Pisces.

Although, his mother was a drug addict when he was young his parents were divorced.

Dwyane Wade grew up his childhood in South Jamaica, Queens, New York. Additionally, he has an older sister, Tragil Wade, and 3 stepbrothers, Darnell McDaniel, Demetris McDaniel, and Kodhmus McDaniel from his father’s second marriage.

Regarding his academic qualifications, he attended his high school at Harold L Richards High School in Oak Lawn, Chicago.

During High School, he played football as well as basketball in high school. Later on, he completed his graduation from Marquette University he was coached by Tom Crean.

Talking about his professional career, Wade began his professional career as a football player as well as a basketball player.

Miami Heat

Initially, Miami Heat selected him with the 5th overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft. He completed his rookie season at the Miami Heat finishing second in field goal percentage, second in steals, third in scoring, fourth in assists, and fourth in minutes played.

Although, he was ranked in the top five among rookies in several major statistical categories. He scored averaging 27.2 points, 6.7 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.95 steals per game in the 2005-06 season.

He led his team to win NBA Finals 2005-06 and was awarded the Finals MVP trophy making him the youngest player in NBA history at the time. Unfortunately, he missed a total of 31 games due to injury during the 2006-07 season.

After that, he became the NBA’s leader in PER at the end of the 2006-07 season. He also became the first player in NBA history to accumulate at least 2,000 points, 500 assists, 100 steals, and 100 blocks in a season.

Similarly, he recorded his 10,000th career point in a 95-87 win against the Chicago Bulls in November 2009. Later on, he finished the 2009-10 season averaging 26.6 points, 6.5 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game.

Additionally, he became the only third player to record triple-doubles in the NBA history in February 2012 after he posted 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. After that, he finished the 2011-12 season averaging 22.1 points, 4.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.

Furthermore, he led Miami Heat to the NBA Finals and won his second NBA title.

Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers

After that, Dwayne Wade joined the Chicago Bulls on a two-year deal worth $47 million in July 2016. Meanwhile, he teamed up with Jimmy Butler and Rajon Rodo.

The stunning trio was nicknamed “Three Alphas”. Later on, he joined Cleveland Cavaliers in September 2017 joining his Miami Heat former teammate LeBron James.

Due to his poor performance, he volunteered to demote himself to a bench role for the betterment of the team and eventually took to the bench role becoming the leader of the second unit.

Return to Miami

Again, Wade returned to Miami in February 2018. Dwayne was introduced with a standing ovation from the crowd.

Likewise, he became the ninth player to score 20,000 points and collect 5,000 assists with one team in April 2018.

He also became the third player in NBA history to record at least 20,000 points, 5,000 assists, 4,000 rebounds, 1,500 steals, 800 blocks, and 500 three-pointers in January 2019.

National Team Career

He became a member of the 2004 U.S. national team. He led his team to win the bronze medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship.

After that, he became co-caption of the 2006 team along with James and Anthony. Due to injury, he did not participate in the FIBA American Championship.

His national team won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in China. Meanwhile, their team was nicknamed the “Redeem Team”.

Unfortunately, he missed the 2012 Summer Olympics due to knee surgery.
