Nearly nine months after being given the all-clear to play football, Eric Berry heroically battled and defeated cancer.
Following his comeback, Berry set a career-best with four pass deflections and intercepted a pass from the great Peyton Mannings during a victory over the Denver Broncos.
Out of the top 100 NFL players in 2016, his peers ranked him 55th, and they also named him Comeback Player of the Year.
Berry committed to the Kansas City Chiefs in a six-year, $478 million deal that included a $20 million signing bonus and a $40 million guarantee. As a result, he rose to the position of the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
