Eric Gordon is a professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association. During his final year of high school at North Central High School, he was named “Mr. Basketball” of Indiana.

Early Life & Parents

Eric Gordon, a rising small forward in the United States, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Likewise, he was the first child of his parents, Eric Gorden Sr. and Denise Gorden.

Denise is also a native of Nassau, Bahamas. Denise later met Gordon Sr. at Liberty University, where Gordon Sr. was a basketball player.

Eric Gordon grew up with his brothers Evan Gordon and Eron Gordon. In contrast, Evan and Eron are point guards for Arizona State and Valparaiso, respectively.

He went to North Central High School in Indianapolis and began playing basketball there. Eric went on to play for Indiana University Bloomington after graduating from high school.

Professional NBA Career

Eric Gordon’s NBA career began in 2008 when he was chosen by the Los Angeles Clippers. He was picked seventh overall and is regarded as one of the top 10 players in the draft class.

Eric scored 23 points in a Las Vegas Summer League game during his first season with the Los Angeles Clippers. Eric finished with a hamstring injury after scoring 19 points and grabbing 6.5 rebounds.

After recovering from his injuries, Eric established a rookie scoring record with 41 points. As a consequence, he was named the January 2009 NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month.

Similarly, Eric made 62 appearances and started 60 games in 2009-10. He appeared in the 2010-2012 season, scoring 16 times and stealing 17 times.

Eric Gordon won the goal medal for the United States at the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

However, during the 2010-11 season, he suffered a sprained wrist with a bone chip fracture as a result of a foul committed by Andris Biedri in a contest against the Golden State Warriors.

Eric played a good effort after returning from injury, helping to a victory with 24 points against the Houston Rockets.

However, Eric suffered another injured wrist after Timofey Mozgov fouled him during a game against the Denver Nuggets.

As a result, Eric concluded the 2010-2011 season as the Clippers’ second-leading scorer, averaging 22.3 points per game, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game.

New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans

On December 14, 2011, the Los Angeles Clippers traded Eric Gordon to the New Orleans Hornets.

Eric’s move, on the other hand, enabled him to post 20 points, four rebounds, and three assists for the new squad against the Phoenix Sun.

Unfortunately, Eric Gordon’s pre-existing knee problem worsened, and he was diagnosed with cartilage damage in his right knee.

Soon after, he returned to the floor in a game against the Denver Nuggets, scoring 15 points in a 94-92 victory.

Eric signed a four-year, $58 million contract deal with the Hornets on July 14, 2012.

With 42 appearances, Eric became the New Orleans Hornets’ leading scorer, averaging 17.0 points per game, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.

Eric had 26 points and seven assists in a 121-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on November 29, 2013.

He averaged 64 appearances and concluded the season with 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.

Despite his injuries, Eric had a fantastic season, with the best long-range shooting year of his career.

Eric Gordon started all 41 games for the Pelicans in 2015-16. Following that, he began appearing in 40 games and played more than 15 minutes in each game.

Houston Rockets

On July 9, 2016, Eric Gordon signed a deal with the Houston Rockets. Meanwhile, he made his Housten Rockets debut on October 26, scoring 19 points in a 120-114 defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Eric scored 26 points to lead the Housten Rockets to their first 130-114 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

On December 7, he had a career-high eight three-pointers and 26 points in a 134-95 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Houston Rockets set an NBA record with 24 three-pointers, paced by Eric Gordon’s 7-for-12 performance.

In addition, he scored 31 points in a 101-91 win over the Washington Wizards on January 2, 2017.

National Team Career

Gordon played for the United States in the 2010 FIBA World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

In addition, he appeared in nine games for Team USA, scoring an average of 8.6 points per game.

Eric’s contribution to Team USA’s perfect 9-0 record earned him a gold medal.
