At the 2011 World Aquatics Championship in China, Manaudou competed for the first time internationally.

He competed in the 50-meter butterfly final, finishing in fifth place with a time of 23.49. Nevertheless, it was slower than his semis time of 23.32.

Additionally, he competed in the butterfly leg of the 4 100 m medley relay for France, however, they were unsuccessful in reaching the finals.

The 2012 World Short Course Championship included two silver- and one bronze-winning result.
