Simu Liu has been speculated to be portraying a Ken doll… By going hairless, he’s proving that he’s ready for the part.
For a role, Simu Liu will go to any (hair) length.
Liu, 33, opened out about his preparations for the upcoming “Barbie” film, in which he’s speculated to play Ken.
He waxed his entire body to commit to the role of Barbie’s plastic equivalent.
“To say the least, waxing has been an education,” the Marvel star told The Independent, calling it “one of the most excruciating experiences of my life.”
Now that he understands what fellow waxers have gone through, the Marvel actor went on to compliment them.
“I have a greater respect for the really brave women who go through this every month,” he joked.
Liu, who just released his biography “We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story,” could also be gearing up to play Ken in other roles.

In February, the 33-year-old “Shang-Chi” and “Legend of the Ten Rings” actor shared a photo of his platinum blonde locks with his Instagram followers. “Sorry ma plz don’t murder me,” he captioned a shirtless (and bald) photo.
In the comments, fans compared him to former boy band members Nick Carter and Nick Lachey, but it’s possible he was channeling Ken.
Ryan Gosling has been confirmed as Ken, according to IMDB, and has been seen filming with platinum hair. Meanwhile, Margot Robbie is set to play the iconic Barbie doll.

However, reports are circulating on Twitter that “Barbie” would feature a “Truman Show”-style storyline with various versions of Ken, including Liu.
In an interview with The Independent, he didn’t confirm or reject the accusations. But he did declare that “the online dialogue is giving me life.”
The “Barbie” picture, directed by Greta Gerwig, is due to hit theaters on July 21, 2023. So fans will have to wait until then to see the “Kim’s Convenience” star in all his hairless glory.

Simu Liu had a full makeover for the Barbie movie coming out next year, and he says it was an eye-opening experience.
In a recent interview with The Independent, the Marvel actor, 33, said that for the Warner Bros. picture, he waxed his entire body, calling it “one of the most painful experiences” of his life.
Liu told the newspaper, “Waxing has been an education, to say the least.”
“It was one of the most traumatic experiences I’ve ever had. I’m in awe of the tremendously brave women that go through this every month.”
Margot Robbie, who plays the movie’s iconic doll role, co-stars with Liu in the film.

Even though the actor’s position in the film is unknown, the new information leads fans to suspect he will play one of the Ken dolls.
In the cast, he joins Ryan Gosling, who is filling in for Ken, and America Ferrera.
The Shang-Chi actor earlier stated that he agreed to join the cast after his agency personally endorsed the picture, stating that it had one of the best scripts he had ever read.

“Greta was saying how much she enjoyed watching males dance because it’s such an expression of talent that you don’t see from average men,” Liu remembered the time he informed her about his previous encounter.
He continued, “She audibly guffawed, she giggle-screamed – and suddenly I got the part.”
