Haynes and Collins agree that Atlanta is the best city to raise their kid since it allows them to maintain strong relationships with their loved ones while working without any problems.

Geoff Collins never played in the NFL, but his accomplishments in high school and college were nonetheless noteworthy.

Bob Smith, his mentor and football coach, was impressed with him when he was a Rockdale County High School team member.

After graduating, he spent four seasons playing collegiate football with the Western Carolina Catamounts. He only played in eight games during his first season and earned a total of three tackles.

Collins participated in every game during his final three college seasons, although his impact increased after the second year.

His numbers improved significantly in the following seasons, when he made 61, 68, and 62 total tackles, respectively.

Coaching Career

Geoff decided to pursue a managerial career instead of playing one after graduation in 1992. He thus served as a student assistant for the Catamounts throughout the 1993 and 1994 seasons.

In 1999, he returned to Georgia and worked at Georgia Tech as a graduate assistant under George O’Leary until the year 2000.

The Yellow Jackets organization then appointed him to the post of tight ends coach for the 2001 season.

The linebacker coach for the Fordham Rams and the defensive coordinator for the football team at Albright College in Pennsylvania were among the organizations he worked for before that.

In addition to the Alabama Crimson Tide, UCF Knights, FIU Panthers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Florida Gators, he also held numerous administrative positions for college teams across the country after his tenure with Georgia Tech.

With the Temple OWLS at Temple University, Geoff landed his first head coaching position in 2016.

While the Owls finished with a 7-6 record and the 2017 Gasparilla Bowl victory, his first season as their head coach was a mixed bag.

Things aren’t going well for him because he signed with the Yellow Jackets for the 2019 season and the team hasn’t had a great year since.

In November 2021, he made some changes by letting go of three assistant coaches after growing tired of the poor performance.

He had high expectations for the 2022 campaign, but the Clemson Tigers handed the Yellow Jackets their season-opening loss on September 5.
