For any basketball player, the NBA is a wonderful dream, and in 2016, Hamidou Diallo was given the chance to fulfill that ambition after being selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder. For his skills in shooting and defense, he is well-recognized and admired.

On July 31, 1998, Hamidou Diallo was born in Queens, New York.

Abdoulaye Diallo, his father, and Marima Diallo, his mother, emigrated from Guinea to the United States in search of a better life for their children.

With his three siblings, Alpha, Boubacar, and Marima, he enjoyed a typical upbringing. The Diallo parents struggled to raise their three children, but they gave them the best life they could.

Diallo showed kindness from a young age, supporting those in need and standing up for their rights.

In addition, his siblings, who entertained themselves by playing board games, cards, billiards, and ping, were the nicest part of his upbringing.

When they were in high school, Diallo began playing basketball, and his parents never discouraged him from pursuing his goals. John Bowne High School served as his primary educational institution.

Later, he was sent to Putnam Science Academy, where he finished his high school education. He did, however, also play basketball and developed a noteworthy position for himself.

Diallo was admitted to the University of Kentucky after completing high school but was unable to finish because he was allowed to play in the NBA.

Diallo’s professional career thus began from this point.

Hamidou has always enjoyed basketball, as we already know. He averaged 17.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a freshman in high school at John Bowne.

Hamidou was transferred to Putnam Science Academy, so he couldn’t stay there for very long. He demonstrated his talents there, charming everyone with his superb performance.

The 6’5” player finished his high school career with a 19.0 point, 6.9 rebounds, and a 3.0 assist average. However, Diallo was regarded as the best player in the 2017 class.

Six institutions wanted Diallo to play for them after learning of his performance in high school.

To finish his additional coursework and concentrate on his job, Hamidou opted to remain at the University of Kentucky.

After being accepted to Kentucky, Hamidou immediately began his practice sessions. However, he was unable to play any more games after that due to Diallo being selected for the NBA 2018 draft.

A noteworthy accomplishment is joining the NBA and being named to the NBA list.

Hamidou Diallo was finally selected by the Oklahoma State Thunder in the 2018 NBA Draft. Since that time, Hamidou has not turned around.

In addition, Hamidou played for the United States National team and the FIBA under-18 squad.

An NBA career

Hamidou was initially selected by the Brooklyn Nets and was subsequently moved to the Charlotte Hornets and Oklahoma State Thunder.

That makes Oklahoma the first team from whom he made his debut.

Unfortunately, his team lost by four points in their first game against the Golden State Warriors.

Despite this, Diallo didn’t let his defeat dim his optimism, and in his next encounter, he improved. In the game, he played extremely hard and scored a career-high 18 points.

Even more, Diallo won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, becoming the first player from Oklahoma to do it. During the two years he spent with Thunders, COVID eventually occurred.

He spent a lot of time at home, just like anybody else. But he didn’t let this time pass to waste; at home, he practiced and worked on improving his basketball skills.

Diallo returned once more in 2021 when everything had returned to normal and the NBA had resumed play, but this time with a new team, the Detroit Pistons.
