NBA basketball player Hassan Whiteside, who was born in the United States, represents the Utah Jazz. He was already an NBA player when the Sacramento Kings selected him in the 2010 draft.

But until he completed his intermediate education, he went to Hunter Huss High School and Ashbrook High School.

Basketball was one of his favorite hobbies. He was particularly interested in sports from a young age.

He participated in games a lot at school and with his neighborhood pals. Whiteside always wanted to be an NBA player.

But at the time, nobody thought he could succeed because of his physical attributes, notably his height, so they frequently called him names and discouraged him.

But his mother constantly told him to stick to what he liked doing, and that benefited him.

He briefly lived with his father in New Jersey during his freshman year of high school at Forestview when his mother requested for help.

Before returning to live with his mother, he stayed there for a year to complete his high school studies.

He attended The Patterson School for his high school education before enrolling at Marshall University to pursue his post-secondary education.

After High School

For Forestview High School in North Carolina, Whiteside began his high school basketball career.

He was kicked from the squad during his sophomore season, according to the coaches, because of his shorter stature and the fact that the team already had superior players.

When he was dismissed, he was 5’11“, but the center position demanded someone much taller.

However, he added eight inches at the end of the season, stunning The Forestview’s head coach at the time, Dan Ghent.

Before transferring to his junior year, he spent two seasons playing for the East Side High School in New Jersey.

He made considerable progress during that season, averaging 10.0 rebounds and 18.0 points per game.

Additionally, he participated in high school basketball competitions for two more schools, notably Patterson Academy and Hope Christian Academy.

When he graduated in 2009, he received outstanding ratings from several sports organizations.

Academic Career

Hassan had scholarship offers from a variety of universities, including South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky, etc. However, he ultimately decided to play for the Marshall University basketball team.

After tallying 14 points and 17 rebounds in a single game on November 28 against the Ohio University Bobcats, he quickly made headlines in the national press.

Averaging 13.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, he had a successful season.

Additionally, that year, Whiteside blocked more shots than any other player in the nation. He set multiple records around the country that season with such a performance.

Finally deciding to forego the next three years of his undergraduate career, Hassan declared for the NBA draft on March 29, 2010.

A career in the Profession

The Sacramento Kings selected him with the number 33 pick in the second round of the draft.

He played in the Kings’ inaugural matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Sadly, he played for them in just one game during his first campaign.

He had to miss some games because of the fouls he committed in that game. However, he injured his knee just as he was about to make a comeback, necessitating surgery to repair it.

He missed each game of his debut NBA season as a result.

Hassan spent a brief time in the NBA G League when the Kings waived him after the conclusion of the second season. The next year, he played for other overseas teams in China and Lebanon.

But everything changed in 2014 when he signed with the Miami Heat. He played in 48 games after coming back from abroad, averaging 11.8 points and 10.0 rebounds.

In the same year, he received votes for the NBA Most Improved Player Award, finishing in fourth place.

Before 2019, Hassan played four more seasons with the Heat, during which time his performance continued to advance.

For the upcoming season, they dealt him to the Portland Trail Blazers on July 16, 2019.
