Holly Rene Holm-Kirkpatrick, an American MMA fighter is a former professional boxer and kickboxer. She is also a former world boxing champion, having defended her title eighteen times across three weight divisions.

Childhood,  Early Life, and Education

MMA fighter, Holly Rene Holm-Kirkpatrick, was born as Holly Rene Holm on October 17, 1981, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the United States.

Her parents are Roger, a preacher for the ‘Church of Christ,’ and his wife Tammy, who is a massage therapist.

She earned the moniker “The Preacher’s Daughter” because of her father’s profession. Holly Holm is the youngest of three siblings, with two older brothers, Brian and Weston Holm.

She grew up near Bosque Farms and competed in gymnastics, swimming, and diving in addition to soccer. She graduated from Manzano High School in 2000 and attended the University of New Mexico.

Holm began taking Aerobics lessons when she was sixteen years old. Her teacher saw her talent as a fighter and began teaching her right away.

Career| Professional Life

Holly Holm won her first fight in September 2001 at the International Kickboxing Federation in Kansas City, Missouri, where she won the International Rules Adult Women’s Welterweight Division.

Likewise, in January 2002, she made her boxing debut, and five months later, she made her kickboxing debut. Her boxing record is incredible, with 33 victories, two defeats, and three ties.

Throughout her boxing career, she earned the WBF Female World Light Welterweight and World Welterweight titles. In addition, Holm has won 18 world titles in three different world classifications.

Likewise, she also won her following fight against Juliana Werner, despite breaking her left arm in the first round.

Deal with UFC

She signed a contract with the UFC, in 2014. Followingly, Holm withdrew out of her first match, which was supposed to be against Raquel Pennington, due to an unexplained ailment.

Likewise, in November 2015, she battled Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.

Despite putting up a valiant battle, Holm defeated Rousey and ended her three-year tenure as champion. In March of the following year, Holly was defeated by Miesha Tate for the championship.

Furthermore, in 2017, she competed in the Women’s Featherweight Championship against Germaine de Randamie.

On the other hand, she lost the bout, prompting her to file a complaint with the New York State Athletic Commission, requesting that the referee’s choices be reviewed.

Unfortunately, her appeal was refused since no legislation or rule had been broken.

Holly Holm was a key player in the 2016 action film “Fight Valley”.
