Jack Matthew Cooper Salt is a New Zealand National Basketball League professional basketball player for the Hawke’s Bay Hawks.

He played college basketball for the Virginia Cavaliers in the United States, where he was a member of their 2019 national championship team.

Early life, Parents, Education

Jack Salt was born on February 11, 1996, in London, England. He is Sophie’s younger brother, and Sophie is also Simon Salt and Maria Anstis’ younger sister.

Jack appears to have balanced his academic and sporting careers regarding his educational background. He picked Virginia University because of its academic offerings and coaching staff.

In addition, he has a degree in anthropology. The Curry School of Education is where he recently enrolled to study educational psychology.

Furthermore, Salt seems to be very developed because he depends on his early career success.

Early Career

Throughout his childhood, Jack was never a basketball player. He enjoyed playing soccer outside, and his father was his coach.

Prior to high school, he played volleyball for the New Zealand National Team at the U17 level, and high school was where his love for basketball began.

When Jack was 17 years old, he played volleyball for the national team. When he was 20 years old, he switched to basketball for the National Basketball League (NBL).

His versatility demonstrates that he can excel in any field. Furthermore, his athletic career began in high school at Westlake Boys High School.

In 2012, Jack participated in volleyball for the New Zealand National Under-17 Team. He previously competed for the Virginia Men’s Basketball Team at the collegiate level.

Jack made his NBL debut for the Super City Rangers in 2013 after realizing his love for basketball. In 14 games, he averaged 8.6 points and 5.4 rebounds there.

He participated in the 2014 NBL for the Waikato Pistons, where in nine games he averaged 7.1 points and 4.6 rebounds.

College Career

Salt committed to playing college basketball at Virginia in 2013 by signing a contract with Coach Tony Bennett.

He was granted a redshirt during his first year of college to put on muscle and strength in preparation for his 2015 debut season.

His roommate, Isaiah Wilkins, a former University of Virginia athlete, was with him the majority of the time.

In addition, Virginia’s highly esteemed Crowley Scholarship was given to Jack in recognition of his outstanding performance, leadership, and sportsmanship.

He played while wearing a redshirt during his first year of college before gradually transitioning into a consistent rotational player for the Cavaliers for the remainder of his playing days.

In their senior year, the Cavaliers became the first top seed in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament to lose to a 16 seed.

The Cavalier recovered throughout the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season, winning and securing their top seed.

Jack participated in the ACC for 34 uninterrupted minutes, recording 5 points and 8 rebounds. Furthermore, Salt is the first New Zealander to win the NCCA Division.

Professional Career

Salt joined the Phoenix Suns 2019 summer league team after disappointingly not being chosen for the 2019 National Basketball Association (NBA).

In addition, Salt participated in the 2013–14 season for the New Zealand national under-20 teams and the 2013 Oceania championships as a member of the senior national team.

When he made the decision to leave the New Zealand team for the 2019 FIBA World Cup, he left everyone in stitches.

Due to his defensive positioning and willingness to play physically on the court, Salt has also earned the moniker “Chiropractor” from his teammates and coach.

His coach thinks that his physical development has given him the ability to play aggressively in games.

Personal Life, Girlfriend

Although Salt is frequently searched online for his girlfriend and relationship status, he prefers to maintain it.

He has thus kept a low profile and avoided discussing private issues in public. He is reportedly single, and there is no reliable information regarding his girlfriend.

The media predicts that as he performs at a higher level, his relationship status will gradually gain attention.

Age, Height, Body Measurement

It’s not surprising that Jack is particularly tall considering how tall the majority of basketball players are.

Jack is 113 kg and 6 feet 10 inches tall. His blonde hair perfectly complements the grayish-green color of his eyes.

Furthermore, despite going to the gym, Salt claims that basketball keeps him fit because of the tight muscles on his body.

He also has a broad shoulder and the ideal macho physique, which is something that probably every guy dreams of having.

Health Problem

Salt was reported to have a liver problem, which stopped him from joining Trefl Sopot of the Polish Basketball League (PBL) in 2019, effectively ending his European career.

He was plagued by illness in 2020, and then a severe knee injury prevented him from playing for the NBL even before it began.

Net Worth and Salary

There isn’t much to say about Jack’s net worth because he is still in his early stages as a business owner.

However, we can see that Jack started out as a college player, and college players are rarely paid. As a result, determining his net worth and salary is challenging.

The players in the 2019 NBA summer league are expected to earn $ 1500 in per diem over the course of a twelve-day tournament.
