He was also named to the first team of the AP Division I All-Ohio.

He then made the decision to join the Michigan Wolverines’ football team. His first game was against Central Michigan.

He defeated Northwestern University by scoring his first touchdown in that game. In 2013, Jonathan started eight of the thirteen games for his group.

Due to an ACL tear, Jake missed the first two games of his sophomore campaign. But he bounced back stronger to show his skills in a victory over the Miami Red Hawks.

The football player only participated in nine games in the 2014 season due to injuries.

Junior, Senior Year Career And Injury

Jake set a career-high with eight receptions for 92 yards despite the Wolverines’ season-opening defeat to the Utah Utes. After catching an eight-yard touchdown pass, Jake subsequently broke the record for most catches by a tight end for Michigan.

By the end of the 2015 campaign, the football player had started 13 of 13 games. In addition, he amassed 3 touchdowns and 654 rushing yards.

Additionally, he was selected for the All-Big Ten offensive first team as well as the Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year. Not to mention that both Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports selected him for their first-team All-American teams.

NFL Career with the Denver Broncos and Second ACL Tear

The former Michigan Wolverine entered the 2017 NFL Draft after receiving his degree. And while Butt was ranked sixth by, he was ranked fifth by NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock.

On May 11, he was formally signed by the Broncos to a four-year, $2.7 million contract with a signing bonus.

While playing tight end, he gave everything he had to the team. However, an ACL tear forced him to spend the rest of the season on the reserve list. But he managed to get it back before the 2018 preseason camp.

For the duration of the regular season, the head coach elevated Jake to secondary starting tight end. Butt caught two passes and gained 29 yards on the ground as he defeated the Seattle Seahawks to win his first game.

But he suffered a second ACL tear, making him miss the remainder of the 2018 campaign. He was once again listed as injured for the 2019 campaign.

Even so, he participated in five games of the 2020 season before being allowed to play again. His hamstring became strained. He will remain for the remainder of the season, regardless.


Butt recently made his National Football League retirement announcement. He claimed that he was unable to deny the disappearance of his once-fervent love for football.

He is thankful for his football career, though, because it allowed him to develop in a number of ways. In a similar vein, the football player claimed that playing the game gave him some of his best memories.
