James Talmadge Brown is a sportscaster from the United States. On CBS Sports, he is renowned as the studio host of The James Brown Show and The NFL Today. He is also a CBS News Special Correspondent.

His hopes were dashed, however, when he was unable to join the Atlanta Hawks, basketball team. He added in an interview that when he got home, he “cried like a baby.”

A Career in Broadcasting

He chose the corporate world after the Hawks destroyed his NBA hopes. In 1984, the commentator began his broadcasting and presenting career.

He was approached by CBS and given a position as an NBA analyst.

He also worked as an anchor for CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in his hometown, which he referred to as WUSA.

In 1987, he was rehired by CBS Sports after a brief stint with the FOX network. He worked as a play-by-play announcer for the NFL and college basketball on the network.

Furthermore, He also worked as a reporter during the 1990 NBA Finals alongside Tom Heinsohn, a former NBA player. He covered the National League Championship Series in 1990 as well.
