Jennifer Hale is well-known as a FOX Sports sideline reporter and an award-winning journalist. Likewise, she is mostly known as Jen Hale since she began covering New Orleans Pelicans in 2012.

“I was waking up close to 15 times a night to catch my breath, and I even began sleeping on my couch at a 90-degree angle, so I’d be able to sleep through the night.” 

Furthermore, new symptoms arise and her feet and legs began to swell up. Likewise, Jen realized her symptoms started progressing at a fast pace.

Moreover, she convinced herself, saying she was fine and it was just a food allergy. In addition, the swelling had extended to her waist, where Hale could not zip up her skirt. Then, she finally decided to see a doctor the next day.

Similarly, she thought it was just acid reflux, Jen went to a gastroenterologist. However, the doctor recommended her to ER as for someone her age, the swelling was quite unusual.

Furthermore, ER doctor finally diagnosed her with cardiomyopathy, and she was transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit.

Likewise, her heart was pumping at 16 percent capacity, and her life expectancy was five years. On the other hand, Jennifer was put on the heart transplant list.

Work-Life Balance

Similarly, Jennifer was prescribed medication by a specialist and was asked to leave her work for six months, which she did not agree to. Though, she decided to continue working but agreed to cut back on her schedule.

Moreover, she wore a LifeVest every day to work for six months which would monitor her heart’s activity and would alarm her if her heart slowed down. Likewise, Jen wore the vest beneath her shirt while covering for NFL, NBA, and college games all over the country for six months.

Furthermore, the medicine worked miraculously and her heart was pumping at 50 percent capacity. In addition, she was finally removed from the transplant list after two years.

Similarly, Hale is in better shape today, and there are not many restrictions on her activities.

On the other hand, after recovering from cardiomyopathy, she became actively involved with the American Heart Association, raising awareness about heart disease.
