Jermaine Gresham (born June 16, 1988) is a former tight end in the National Football League. He got selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He was an All-American football player at the University of Oklahoma.

Early Life, Childhood, and Education

Jermaine Gresham was born in the Oklahoma town of Ardmore. He is the son of Jerry Williamson, a loving father, and Valletta Gresham, a proud mother.

Jermaine Gresham has always been praised for his outstanding performance and high grades. Jermaine started high school at the age of 16.

The Daly Oklahoman named him Best Receiver for the 2003 season after he concluded the season with 11 touchdowns and 26 catches.

In his senior year, the Oklahoman had 70 receptions for 1,175 yards and 25 touchdowns, earning him a spot on the Parade All-American team.

Likely, Gresham Helped the Tigers go 12–0, but they lost to Bixby in the 5A state tournament.

He tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee in the quarter-final victory against Coweta.

Basket Ball Career

Gresham, a 6′ 4′′ freshman center, joined the Ardmore basketball team as a freshman. He scored 10.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season (RPG).

Lionel Brown, a senior point guard, led the team.

In contrast to Oklahoma City John Marshall, the Tigers made it all the way to the 2003 Class 5A state final.

However, he was defeated by a team captained by J. R. Giddens, 50–46.

John Marshall avenged a 68–58 loss to Ardmore in a zone game just a week before.

He gave up basketball owing to ACL knee problems and focused his efforts on becoming an Oklahoma Sooner.

Jermaine Gresham joined the Oklahoma Sooners and went on to play collegiate football.

Gresham was a standout basketball player before retiring due to an ACL injury and focusing on his football career with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Ardmore Tigers played the Oklahoma City Southeast Spartans in their last Class 5A boys basketball game of 2004 but lost.

With 4:39 remaining, Ardmore led 52–42.

However, Ardmore and Southeast’s three-pointers propelled the Spartans to victory with an 18–3 run.

Jermaine led the squad with 11.8 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, and 17 points and 15 rebounds in the tournament championship game.

College career

Rivals.com ranked Gresham as the number 34 overall tight end prospect for the 2005 season.

The Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Miami Hurricanes, LSU Tigers, USC Trojans, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Nebraska Cornhuskers were among the teams that called him out.

Gresham loved the tight-end tradition at Miami (Bubba Franks, Jeremy Shockey, and Kellen Winslow Jr.) as well as the players’ connection and familiarity.

Kevin Sumlin and Jackie Shipp, his Oklahoma recruiters, were similarly interconnected with their own people, which he admired.

Jermaine signed with the Sooners on National Letter of Intent Day, February 1, 2006.

Professional Career

Despite missing all of his previous collegiate seasons due to a knee ailment, Jermaine was still enrolled in the first round.

On August 3, 2010, he signed a five-year, $15.85 million contract, with $9.6 million in total.

Gresham started 15 games for the Bengals in his first season. Then it ended with 52 catches for 471 yards and four touchdowns.

His 52 receptions ranked him third on the club and set a new permit record for catches by a rookie tight end.

Gresham missed two games due to injuries in his second season. Then, he still improved in every statistical category, catching 56 receptions for 596 yards and six touchdowns.

Arizona Cardinals

Jermaine signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals on July 24, 2015, reuniting with former Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer.

In his debut season with the Cardinals, Jermaine had 18 catches for 223 yards and one score in a limited role.

Gresham turned down four-year offers from the New York Jets and Chicago Bears to sign a one-year deal with the Cardinals.

Gresham and the Cardinals agreed to a four-year contract on March 7, 2017.

He started 11 games in 2018, with a career-low nine catches for 94 yards and no touchdowns.
