Joseph Andrew Bart is a Major League Baseball catcher who currently plays for the San Francisco Giants. Bart was a member of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in college.

Early Life, Family & Education

Thomas and Karen Bart gave birth to  Joey Bart on December 15, 1996, in Buford, Georgia, USA. Danny and Mikey are his two siblings.

Mikey, his older brother, was a defensive end at North Carolina who signed with the Arizona Cardinals immediately after graduation. Joey has always had a strong interest in baseball.

MLB Draft

The San Francisco Giants selected Bart second overall in the 2018 MLB draft and signed him to a contract worth $7,025,000. It was the most significant signing bonus ever given to a position player.

Bart had his instruction at the club’s headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona. After finishing his training, Bart made his professional baseball debut with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League.

He played for the San Jose Giants of the Class A-Advanced California League in 2019.

Bart broke his hand on April 15, 2019, and was out for a month.

He was named to the All-Star Futures Game the same year. The Giants assigned Bart to the Richmond Flying Squirrels of the Class AA Eastern League in August 2019.
