Decline in Performance

Konta suffered some crushing defeats in 2011. Johanna did not qualify for Charleston, Fes, or Strasbourg.

Noticeably, she advanced to the main draw of the WTA Tour but was eliminated in the first round. That year, she won the title at the Aegon GB Pro-Series in Woking against Laura Robson. She also won a $10,000 tournament in Madrid.

Konta won a $25k title at Rancho Mirage in initial 2012. Johanna also qualified for a WTA Tour event that year. Additionally, Johanna was granted British citizenship in May of 2012.

Konta managed to reach the quarterfinals of the 2016 Summer Olympics in singles.

For the very first time in her career, Johanna reached the WTA finals. Johanna also progressed to the finals of the China Open. Moreover, Konta made the top ten list.

Konta competed in the 2016 WTA Elite Trophy, where she was defeated in the semifinals by Elina Svitolina. Furthermore, Johanna finished the season comfortably in 10th place.

She also advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2017 Australian Open, where she defeated Caroline Wozniacki. Serena Williams, on the other hand, eliminated her.

Grand Slam successes

Konta managed to reach the 2019 Morocco Open final. But she was unable to lift the trophy because Maria Sakkari defeated her. She advanced to the finals of the Madrid Open once more, this time defeating Venus Williams.

But, once again, she was defeated in the final by Karolina Pliskova. She also lost to Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals of the 2019 US Open.

At the tournament, Barbora Strycova showed her the way out. All in all, she finished the year ranked 12th.
