Joshua Alan Rutledge is a former professional baseball infielder from the United States. Between 2012 and 2017, he was a member of the Colorado Rockies and the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball.

When Josh Alan Rutledge was a student at Cullman High School, he began participating in baseball competitions. Soon after joining Cullman in 2004, he made a good impression on the high school coach.

Joshua performed admirably as a junior and a sophomore, but his breakthrough season was in 2006. With 33 runs batted in (RBIs), 5 home runs, and a batting average of.436 at the end of the season.

He outperformed every metric from his prior year in 2007. He had 12 home runs and 69 RBIs while batting.454. Cullman High School won the State Championship thanks to his outstanding contribution.

He received the Class 5A Player of the Year Award from Birmingham News and the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

Josh joined the University of Alabama and participated in baseball for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He appeared in 61 games in 2008, during which time he batted.369 with 62 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.

In the School’s all-time list, his 28-game hitting streak from March to May put him in third place. Additionally, he played in thirty Southeastern Conference games and batted.406 on average.

Professional Career

Major League Baseball selected Joshua Rutledge in the 2010 MLB Draft. He was chosen by the Colorado Rockies in the third round (107th overall). He agreed to a $295k deal with the Rockies on June 25, 2010.

Rutledge spent his first season playing 11 games for the Northwest League’s Tri-City Dust Devils. He participated in 2011 for the Modesto Nuts of the Californian League.

Josh won two Player of the Week awards while batting.348 with nine home runs and 71 RBIs.

Rutledge was promoted to the Double-A Texas League team Tulsa Drillers following his inspiring time at Modesto. Josh used a bat. 308 while contributing 35 RBIs and 13 home runs for the Drillers.

He was named to the Colorado Rockies’ starting lineup in 2012 following the injury to shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.

On July 13, he finally participated in his debut MLB game. Rutledge finished his first Major League season batting.274 with 8 home runs and 37 RBIs despite suffering a quadriceps injury.
