US swimmer Joshua Prenot competes internationally and excels in breaststroke and individual medley events. He won the Pac-12 and NCAA championships in addition to the Olympic and World Championships.
Early Life & Family
Joshua Prenot was born on July 28, 1993, in Sedalia, Missouri, to William and Tammy Prenot. Tammy’s profession is unknown, however, William, a retired Lt. Col. who spent 20 years in the US Air Force, worked in that field.
Since his parents were in the military, Josh had to move about with them from one place to another. However, his parents remember how he blended in well wherever they went.
His mother also discussed how they came across other coaches along the way who were very helpful to him in an interview.
His father made him passionate about fitness, which helped him in his undertakings.
In everything he does, he has always been competitive; while winning is wonderful, he loathes losing more than anyone else. This naturally inspired him to pursue perfection.
Joshua Prenot: Career
As a member of the USA Swimming national junior squad since his early years, he has competed in both domestic and foreign events.
He finished sixth in the 200-meter butterfly and fifth in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2010 Junior Pan Pacific Championships.

Collegiate
Despite having learned to swim at a young age, his aptitude wasn’t discovered until his first year in college. He played with the California Golden Bears from 2012 until 2016.
Josh was named the Pac-12 Newcomer and won the 400m IM in his rookie year.
After placing sixth in the 200 breaststrokes and 200 IM and fourth in the 400 IM in the NCAA championships that year, Prenot was named all-America.
At the 2014 Pac-12 conference tournament, he finished third and successfully defended his 400m IM title. He kept setting school records in the competitions.
In addition to another gold in the 400-yard IM in 2015, he also took home two silvers in the 200-yard breast and 200-yard IM.
But in 2016, he gave his best performance. He had his highest fish ever when he won gold in the 400 IM at the NCAA with a terrific time of 3.35.82. In the 200 breaststroke and 200 im competitions, he finished second as well.
Pro Career
He started his professional career in 2016 when he joined the Adidas team. Adidas announced this partnership on social media on December 5th, 2016.
Prenot went on to remark that he was keen to find out how modern Adidas equipment may help him attain his potential.

At the 2017 winter national championships, he finished first in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 45.81. In the 200 and 100 breaststroke competitions, he came in fourth and sixth, respectively.
At the 2018 US Nationals, he also finished seventh in the 100-meter breaststroke and sixth in the 200-meter individual medley while taking home the gold in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2.07.28.
At the 2018 Short Course World Championships in Hangzhou, he won silver in the 200 IM.
Olympic Experience
Josh shares the common dream of almost every athlete to take home Olympic gold. He joined his first Olympic trial in 2012 at the age of 19 with the intention of winning. London.
In the 200m breast, 400Im, and 200IM, he finished in positions 10, 13, and 14, respectively.

He had more time to hone his skills despite having to wait four years to fulfill his desire.
At the 2016 US Olympic trials, he set a new US record for the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:07:17. In addition, this is the event’s fourth-fastest racing time ever.
The American team eagerly anticipated Prenot’s Olympic debut. And he didn’t disappoint us!
With a time of 2:07:53, he finished second in the fiercely competitive 200m breaststroke competition. With this silver, the United States captured its first 200m breast Olympic medal since 2004.
Retirement
We’ve all had it hard dealing with 2020 and the coronavirus pandemic. The cancellation of the 2020 Olympics caused a significant deal of suffering to athletes all around the world.
In addition to all of that, Josh was further disappointed by his failure to advance to the Tokyo Olympics trials.
The 2016 silver medalist finished in 17th position with a time of 2.13.42 seconds, as only the top 16 finishers advanced to the semifinals.
After the incident, he posted a number of justifications for his state of mind. He apologized for his bad performance and made a commitment to give swimming a break for at least a year.

Josh married Tiffany Sudarma in 2019 at a beautiful destination wedding. The couple had been dating for a while before getting engaged in May 2018.

At least 200 people attended the Bali wedding, and most of them were close friends and family.
The celebration started with a Chinese tea ceremony where the newlyweds could thank their loved ones in front of family and friends.
The adorable couple was then granted wishes for a successful future by their parents and other family members.
Following that was the wedding ceremony at the Villa Pleniulo. The bride wore a gorgeous backless wedding dress by Indonesian designer Monica Ivana, while the groom sported a classic grey suit.
