The Xavier University of Ohio afterward welcomed Macura. He selected this College to participate in the Big East Conference.
College career
Macura was a part of the Xavier Musketeers from 2014 to 2018. His first two years of college were spent at Villanova and Marquette as of January 2014.
Fun fact: While playing for Xavier, Macura had his first game with double-digit points. In a different game, Macura scored eight points in just seven minutes.
However, he was compelled to abandon the game because of an ankle injury. Later, Macura received the Sixth Man Award for 2015–16 from the Big East Conference.

In the 2018 NBA draft, Macura was forced to go undrafted. He later agreed to a two-way deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
Later, Greensboro Swarm of the G League traded J.P. Macura to the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA.
He ultimately chose to join the Hornets. In his opening contest for the Swarm, JP scored 27 points.

On the 29th of March 2016, JP Macura appeared in a Cincinnati bar to take in the nightlife in a club. But he was discovered to have a phony ID the following morning.
