Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus is an American actress, comedian, and producer who has appeared on Saturday Night Live, Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep, among other shows.

On January 13, 1961, Julia Louis-Dreyfus was born in New York City. Her French-born father, Gérard Louis-Dreyfus, was the chairman of the Louis Dreyfus Company, and her American-born mother, Judith, was a writer and special needs tutor.
However, her parents divorced in 1962, one year after Louis-Dreyfus was born. Louis-Dreyfus was a Delta Gamma sorority member at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She studied theatre and was a member of the Mee-Ow Show, a student-run improv and sketch comedy revue, before leaving in her junior year to work for Saturday Night Live.
