An American mixed martial artist named Julie Kedzie is now retired. She is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert and a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Early Life
Pisces was Julie Kedzie’s horoscope sign when she was born on March 18, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. She is also the second child of her parents, Dan Kedzie and Kathleen Burke.
Julie has known and observed the fighting arena from her earliest childhood years. Since she was only five years old, her father regularly enrolled her in Tae Kwon Do classes with her older sister, Jenny Kedzie.
Julie initially had no interest in sports, but as time passed, she developed a passion for it, with Muay Thai kickboxing quickly emerging as her favorite. Julie was raised in California until she was twelve years old, after which her family relocated to Bloomington, Indiana.
Fun fact: Her mother experienced a sudden shift in their family. Her mother was at Indiana University at the time working toward a doctorate in neurobiology.
In addition to her athletic career, Julie enrolled in Indiana University as she grew older. Well, she indulged herself during the English literature bachelor’s program. She earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Nonfiction Writing from the University of Iowa by the year 2019.
Professional Career
Julie Kedzie and her sister joined Monroe County Martial Arts after moving to Bloomington, Indiana. Steve and Linda Scott served as their mentors at that time. They started learning about jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, knife fighting, and other things together.
The UFC fights were first seen at a party when she was a junior in high school. She recalled that it was almost exclusively male and described it as dull. After that, one of her friends handed her a DVD of women fighters.
She, therefore, followed her friend to California for training before receiving her degree.
Later, she intended to put her studies on hold in order to excel at combat. Her mother, however, pushed her to complete her diploma.
She participated in the fight training throughout her time in college, but she didn’t start taking it seriously until the end of the semester.

Strikeforce
When Julie Kedzie first signed up for the Strikeforce, Amanda Nunes was supposed to be her opponent. Due to Nunes’ injury, the fight that was scheduled to take place on June 18, 2011, in Dallas, Texas, had to be postponed.
On July 30, 2011, a match against Alexis Davis served as Julie’s Strikeforce debut. She suffered a unanimous decision loss at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Julie was scheduled to compete once more for the Strikeforce Challengers 19 card in September of that same year. Her injury forced her to, unfortunately, withdraw from the match, and she didn’t compete again until almost a year later.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
Julie Kedzie debuted in the UFC on July 27, 2013, when she defeated Germaine de Randamie at UFC on Fox 8. She must have had a disappointing debut because she was defeated by a split decision.
Following that, Julie competed in UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Bigfoot in December 2013 against Bethe Correia. After she made her retirement announcement on Twitter, this became her final game in the ring.
Julie’s news of her retirement was equally saddening, but she also lost the game that day in Brisbane, Australia.

“I really truly want to thank all of you for being a part of my journey as a fighter. I will still be involved in MMA for the rest of my life. But now it’s time for me to accept that I can give more to the sport by stepping back and taking a role in helping to develop other fighters.”

Additionally, her property and the brand partnerships she has worked on are not fully disclosed.
Body Measurements
Julie Kedzie is a combatant with a physically fit athletic build. Fun fact: When she first entered the ring, she didn’t have access to a diet coach, so she learned through online forums.
Whatever the case, Julie is a perfect 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 meters) tall and weighs 135 lb (61 kg)
