NFL Career

On May 9, 2013, Allen agreed to a four-year, $2.81 million contract with the Chargers, but he did not see a lot of action. Allen was disappointed that he couldn’t play and almost quit football to pursue his academics.

Fortunately, he eventually began receiving more opportunities to play, and on October 6, 2013, he faced the Oakland Raiders and recorded his first 100-yard games as a receiver in the NFL.

Allen’s contract with the Chargers was extended in 2016, but he was unable to play that year.

Even though he was unable to stand until the first half of the game and was later diagnosed with an ACL tear, Allen gave it his best effort that season despite missing the entire campaign.

Keenan most recently left the game against the Raiders early in the 2022 season due to a hamstring injury.

In the second week of the 2017 season, Keenan broke his personal best record. Allen returned even more vital, stronger, and stronger.

In that same year, Keenan made NFL history by becoming the first player to record at least one touchdown in three straight games with at least 10 catches and 100 receiving yards.

As a result of his outstanding performance, he was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

For Allen, the 2018 and 2019 seasons were average. He performed admirably, but not as well as in 2017. The Chargers extended Allen’s contract with the organization in 2020.
