Robert Dobbs was Kenneth Gainwell’s basketball coach when he first began playing at Yazoo County High School. He spent three years overall playing quarterback for the Panthers.

Gainwell won four consecutive championships with the Panthers during his four years at Yazoo County High School. Additionally, he was the one to secure berths in the state playoffs for the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA).

Kenneth surprised everyone by amassing the most rushing and receiving yards during his time in college. He also contributed to the Memphis Tigers’ 14-1 record, which helped them have their best season in college history.

Athletes standing 5 feet 9 inches tall participated in the Memphis Tigers’ Redshirt Freshman class. In 2017, following his enrollment, he made his initial commitment to the Tigers.

Collegiate Career

In 2018, Kenneth was able to successfully maintain attention with his impressive flashes. Similar to 2019, Kenneth’s greater impact allowed the Tigers to make it to the Cotton Bowl.

Sophomore Year (2019)

After his exceptional moves in each of those 14 games for the AAC Championship Tigers, football fans recognized him as the hot blood.

The opportunity he had during his Redshirt season expanded as a result of his 12th-place national rushing yardage of 1,459, which made him the third player in school history to surpass 2,000 all-purpose yards.

He ran for an additional 100 yards while his teammates were getting hurt, shattering the entire school record.

He was able to achieve notable victories thanks to performances like catching a pass in 6 minutes and 21 seconds, starting from 100 to 200 yards seven times in a season, and rushing and receiving effort.

They also win the Birmingham Bowl berth while participating in the American Championship Game.

Following a similar pattern, the 2018 Tigers won three games and prepared for November to take the league’s West Division championship.

At the conclusion of the season, after careful consideration and ranking, Damonte Coxie and third-round pick Antonia Gibson have ranked ahead of Kenneth on his team.

Overall, he had excelled for the Tigers, posting a 12-2 record. He had qualified for the 84th edition of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

He made history by becoming the first FBS player since 1997 to have over 200 receiving yards and 100 rushing yards in the same game while competing against Tulane.

NFL Draft and Debut

On May 1, 2021, Kenneth Gainwell made his NFL Draft debut.

In addition, he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round of the 86th national draft, 150th overall. Later, on June 3, 2021, he agreed to a four-year deal with Philadelphia.

He was a redshirt freshman defensive quarterback for the high school football team.

In addition, he ran for 1,459 yards and 13 touchdowns. For a total of 610 yards and three receiving touchdowns, he also made 51 receptions.
