Kevin was the second child of Shirley. Louis McCullough is one of his brothers, and Sonya Garnett and Ashley Garnett are two of his sisters.

Garnett first attended Hillcrest Middle School in Mauldin, South Carolina, before enrolling at Mauldin High School. He first started playing the sport and joining the team in high school.

But Garnett encountered bigotry at his school and was expelled after being accused of being a racist. He eventually earned his high school diploma at the Farragut Career Academy in Chicago.

The high school team at Farragut Career Academy included Kevin Garnett. He was selected the National High School Player of the Year by USA Today for his excellent performance.

He also won recognition as Illinois’ Mr. Basketball. Kevin has received awards for being the Most Outstanding Player and one of the 35 Greatest McDonald’s All-Americans.

Garnett’s basketball stardom was already established when he obtained his high school diploma.

Professional Life and Career

In the 1995 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected him with the fifth overall choice. In 20 years, he was the first player selected by an NBA team straight out of high school.

He was selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game during his second season, and he soon rose to fame in the league.

He accepted a contract extension worth $126 million over six years in 1997, making it the highest-paying long-term contract in American professional sports history.

Garnett excelled while representing Minnesota, and he achieved many remarkable things on his own.

In each of his first 12 seasons, he was an All-Star, and in 2003–04, he was named NBA Most Valuable Player. But his squad was left behind since it was unable to make it to the NBA Finals.

Garnett then became a part of the Boston Celtics. Nevertheless, he has voted the NBA Defensive Player of the Year and contributed to the Celtics’ NBA championship triumph in 2008.

However, Garnett was moved to the Brooklyn Nets after the 2012–13 campaign. He played with the Minnesota Timberwolves for a season before departing the Brooklyn Nets in 2015.

In September 2016, he announced his retirement from basketball, after a twenty-one-year NBA career. He worked as a studio analyst for a television show with an NBA theme after retirement.

2020 saw Garnett’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Kevin has played basketball for the United States in several international tournaments. On the American Olympic national team that won a gold medal in 2000, he participated in a competition.
